First of all I'd like to say that I love and always have loved Valve. I respected them as a company because they seemed to know how to do it right. No extra fluff. Hardly anyone saw Half-Life 1 coming. They keep their mouths shut and make superior games.



Here I sit, almost to tears, for I have been foresaken...



I have, on my desk, a very cool looking G-Man Half-Life 2 box that was opened by me and has been held by others only in my presence under my watchful eye. I have been waiting for Half-Life 2 since I beat Half-Life 1 shortly after it came out. When I finally got Half-Life 2 I was so excited I beat 90% of it in one night and then woke up the next morning and finished it off before breakfast. I probably would have died from joy had I not been forced to use Steam to play Half-Life 2. Hey, last time I checked my friends list on Steam.... hey wait, I can't check my friends list on Steam because it works never... But I digress...



As to the tears, they are from my steam account being murdered by some stupid money-grubbing fat fingered meow-kitty whore up in some evil tower laughing because apparently, my bought copy of Half-Life 2 was illegal and now I should put my dick in a pond full of razor toothed demon fish with lazers for eyes. My brother was playing last night and all the sudden he could not join any more CS:S servers and it logged me out.



THOSE RED-BASKET HOLE JUMPERS MURDERED MY STEAM ACCOUNT FOR NO REASON. SORRY WALLET, MR. STEAM JUST BURNED 50 ODD BUCKS FOR NO REASON.



It's entirely possible some snot rag kid stole my Steam ID, everyone knows it and maybe this snot rag kid used it for his illegal haxed version of HL2 but I bought it and now I can't use it. Even if someone had my username and password, which is admitidly stupid, they should not be able to incur this much damage. Now all I have to do is steal someone I don't like's account and I can cost them 50 or 60 bucks. Hurray. This is exactly how the internet should work.



If I don't get my account back I'm never going to buy another game made by Valve or that uses the Source engine.

I find it hard to believe somebody would find your steam account and password, and then have you banned without changing the password, especially if you already bought HL2. They would just change the password and steal your HL2.



I find your story hard to believe.



EDIT: Oh, and by the way, knowing your steamid allows a hacker to... ban you from his server. So it's pretty immaterial that everybody knows your steamid

That makes people like me who run forum boards for HL2 and other groups, look like they are the ones that did it... I wish they would sometimes just say, people who support illegal warez sites and forums... No the community... I don't support warez at all... The game is really worth buying; plus it feels good to have an official, retail copy of the game.



Edit: People who are under sever financial circumstances, I can understand that downloading Half Life 2 may be the only solution, but for others who can clearly afford it, should not be pirating it.

It feels REALL good to own the offical retail version of the game and then get your account murdered by steam. I'm sure it'll feel even better if Valve ever goes out of business and people who buy Half-Life 2 wont be able to play it because the entire Steam scheme is a shit-eating monster on cocain.



Consolidated mod patching = yes.

Games having complete dependence on shit-eating monster on cocain = no.

tekproxy, If there is a problem and you have reason to believe that your account was wrongly disabled you can contact Valve but I find it hard that your account will be turned back on because the reasons for disabling accounts are pretty obvious.



Also what is the error that you get when you login???

1.) Wait and hope Steam turns my account back on (hahaha not likely)

2.) Buy Half-Life 2 __----===****AGAIN****===----___

3.) Crack Half-Life 2 myself and play it without Steam.



It's like losing a good friend, getting kicked in the balls and doing scat swap with your mother all at the same time... again.

I pay 50$ for some paper slips and a 1 page install manual/key layout, and on top of that Steam, while displaying vast potential, is still a complete shit-eating cocain-addicted beast.
