Wow, I bought it at Best Buy, cant play it because I have to log on, cant log on because I cant remember my password, cant get my password because steam is lagging like crap. GG, never would have thought that you would need the internet to play a single player game I bought from a retail store. From what I hear the game rocks (good job valve) but I dont understand why they had to go this route to release it (bad job valve).

i got the sdk files verifoed in about 10 seconds and i also got cable and i got unlocked in a matter of minutes.

man i fell asleep last night like 30 minutes before hl2 was unlocked. i woke up about 9, and after 40 minutes of checkinig my steam files i was playin. and i continued to play until 2:20. man what a fucking incredible game. i mean it, this could be the best game ive EVER played.



im playing in on hard, and it seems like its on medium, which is my only gripe. i wish there were an extra hard.



the part where alyx introduces you to Dog and you play catch was probably the neatest thing ive done in any game. i could have played in that scrapyard forever. what have been some other pplz favorite parts. spoiler tags plz

Dude, you've had plenty of time on your 56k to preload the HL2 files... unlocking will likely take a while, but people with 56k modems are supposed to be patient people, right? :)

Well, piracy being what it is these days, I'm not even remotely surprised. It's hard to get a single-player experience on the PC to be successful due to the rampant piracy, and now more and more developers seem to be releasing SP games to consoles instead.



Not that there won't be hacked pirated versions of HL2 out eventually, I'm sure, but it at least makes it that much more difficult.
