Hmm... some people just can't take the fact that VALVe just created the game.

They shouldn't be responsible if some low IQ people play the game.

Hey guys, nobody takes Australia's stories about video games seriously. You do know that, right? These are the guys who didn't let Leisure Suit Larry in, and are contemplating banning HL2 as well. In a strange twist, they seem to feel that Manhunt is more suitable for children than Half Life 2.

Blaming CS for a random murder, or whatever they're calling it, has about as much bearing as blaming DOOM for the Columbine massacre.

If blaming video games for murder is what you're trying to do, then in that same vein, we might as well be suing grocery stores for supplying these murderers with food - it's the same damn effect.

        Stupidity is dangerous.

I personally can always see the side of this where there may be some truth. CS obviously didn't cause some silly kid to murder his dad; but I'm sure it had some role to play in the style in which he carried out the attack.

Really, for anything to happen there has to be will. People can say all they want about video games, but if the person didn't want to commit the crime, they would never have done so in the first place. Games don't pressurize your next door neighbour billy bob to go and slay the neighbours cat no more than films such as Leathal Weapon, Die Hard, Face Off etc do.

I remember watching a factual documentary the other day on ITV (Tonight with Trevor McDonald for those in the UK) which happened to be about the same topic. In all instances of this sort of thing, both lawers, police and even some parents believed that games were not the cause for the actions that took place in the crime, and thought the game in question (GTA Vice City) posed no threat to the nation.

We have to be looking at other issues here. For example what parents should be doing to stop kids playing adult games, and why the classification system is failing.

'Lets play the blame game guys, I propose that we make the game some kids in the neighbourhood play a scapegoat, noone will ever know!'

Sure, blame the video games they play, the music they listen to, the television and movies they watch. Don't blame the parents who do a bad job, don't blame the individuals who are social deviants who have issues telling the difference between fantasy and reality.

It's easy to blame everyone else, but let's not blame the truly responsible party for committing the act.

If this happened in the U.S., this would be a plain and simple case of robbery and murder. But since it happens in a country where there's minimal gun violence, I guess the journalist wouldn't know how to write this one up. Add some outrage and you've got a story everyone pays attention to.

they go off, blaming CS for these stupid incidents, when really they should be blaming the parents.

If these kids really were imitating CS (which i highly doubt) then they must have had something wrong with them, and their parents shouldn't have let them play violent video games in the first place. Neglect and poor parenting are far better reasons for blame, not CS or any other games for that matter.

i hold strong to the belief that most of these tragic instances always go back to these kids' upbringing.

It doesn't matter if the person did play Counter Strike or any other violent video game for that matter-- the bottom line is if a person takes it that far there is clearly something wrong with the person to begin with. Pretty simple.

You dont need CS to tell you that you are capapble to do it.

This does not look like CS inspired to me, it kinda stops after the first paragraph then describes your average HOME ROBBERY. WTF are these reporters thinking. Bunch of retards I swear.
