    Murder Blamed on Counter-Strike

Every once in a while a news article comes along about some violent act being blamed on our beloved Counter-Strike and its counterparts. During the infamous sniper shooting spree around Virginia, a lot of controversy was tossed around with regards to games with sniper rifles like CS and there have been the occasional news story about violence at LAN's provoked by games like CS. An article, published today and hailing from Australia, seems to be another extreme example of this trend.
ONE of the world's best-selling computer games was the inspiration behind a terrifying random attack on a Sydney family that left father Josef Logozzo dead, the Sydney Supreme Court heard yesterday.

Sophear Em was so fascinated with the game Counter-Strike that he and an accomplice dressed in black fatigues, balaclava and ski goggles to emulate characters from the game.
For the full article, click here. It's always sobering when something like this happens and it's never pretty seeing the media lash out at violent video games and television. However, what strikes me odd about this is that the idea of wearing "black fatigues, balaclava and ski goggles" is not something unique to Counter-Strike and neither is firing a gun.

OR MAYBE THEY JUST WORE THE SKI GOGGLES AND THE MASK AND BLACK FATIGUES SO NOBODY WOULD RECOGNIZE THEM.

Yeah, I don't see the connection. OMG, Rainbow Six also has characters wearing ski gear and such, let's blame that too. Oh and hey, so does 007:Nightfire. Yeah, let's blame a Bond game while we're at it.

Unless the guy(s) actually come forward and admit themselves that they were specifically imitating CS, there's no reason to connect the two.

I'm guessing the point is that the guy(s) did come forward and say "We did it because CS warped our minds, it's not our fault".

Ofcourse games are to blame, not the phychopaths that do this.

Hmm, if CS is such an influence, why don't the terrorists yell out "The bomb has been planted" when they bomb people?

It's pretty clear using a mouse and a keyboard pretty much teaches you how to get a hold of a pistol(b, 1,then a number from 1-5),and shoot it and aim(move mouse, mouse1). And as far as using a high powerd sniper rifle from great distances away... cs just teaches you all those fine skills!

thats right... blame videogames... don't blame the people who gave them access to the guns or dont blame their parents for rasing them to be murderers... blame the videogames...
