I noticed the arcade machine specifications are identical to a PC. So... Do I get my loonie back if the game crashes?

The Arcade machine will be dedicated to running HL2, whereas your PC has to run windows etc. in the background.

But we can all agree that it's basically a computer, running a modded version of HL2 to include deathmatch. With a crappier version of Windows.

Come on guys, it's just a computer running HL2 hooked up to a coin slot.

Not that I don't think this is a good idea. People can try HL2 before they buy it, even though most people should have gotten it by next year.

I'm sure that Time will write a short blurb in the last few pages about HL2 when it comes out. They did that with the Sims 2 and Rome.

Actually, it does run windows in the background:
and uses the Windows XP Embedded operating system
And yes, I've seen many arcade machines with a windows BSOD.

What interest me most though is the fact that you can play it cooperatively. Why can't they add that feature to the PC game, even if it's after its release!

thats stupid. what kind of a fucking idiot pay money to stay there at arcade for over MINIMUM 20 hours of playing.

                      1: waste of time

                      2: waste of money

3: probably will cost to finish the game x3 the money of the game's original price. ( $50 ยท 3 = $150 )

just speculations, but I put Lincoln on it that it will actually come true.
It probably won't resemble HL2 all that much in the storyline. An extremely condensed version, if at all.

It'll suck unless there's a keyboard and mouse for the arcade version, which there won't be.

                        So... it'll suck.

This isn't the first time a FPS is ported to an arcade. There are two that pop in my head (aside from CS: Neo). One I can't remember the name of, and the second being Quake. I think I'm the only one who's actually heard of Quake Tournament (and for the last [bleep]ing time it's NOT Quake 3!!!! It's really called Quake Tournament and it's on a coin-operated machine just like any standard arcade machine; you wouldn't believe how many people think I've mistakened it to a game we're all familiar with).

when will valve learn that they'll sell more and have a less bitchy community if they'd just listen to their bitching? 3 reasons why Doom 1 & 2 sold so much:

                                1. gore

                                2. co-op mode

                                3. co-op mode

why the hell can't valve make a co-op mode for PC? Sven co-op works, why not HL2? It's SOOO FREAKING OBVIOUS!!!
