I had a sentence in the newspost about the author's sentance composition skills, but I took it out for fear of Gamespy slapping me with an enormous trout...or something.

Sorry. I've been reading CSN for so long that when I started posting news I just started using all their catch phrases automatically.

There's plenty of semi-free/free/ad-supported dial-up services around. Just use one for a few minutes to create your Steam account and then get rid of it.

All the more reason for mod teams to create heaps of deathmatch multiplayer games. Valve took the time to make HL1 deathmatch - which was the only multiplayer when the game was released - and this time they're giving us two multiplayer games. Besides, if they hadn't made CS:S the main multiplayer component, HL2 would sell a lot less copies. If you're a game company trying to make money, are you going to make a multiplayer that's new and people may or may not like it or pay attention to it, or are you going to make the multiplayer that will have guaranteed success and sales. Any other company would make the same decision.

You're right: some people don't like CS:S or DoD. Some people also don't like Quake/UT style deathmatch. At least they're giving us two choices instead of one.

If your answer is "how hard could it be" then join/start a mod team and get started on your precious HL2DM mode. You accuse Valve of having non-existant logic or something but you base your argument on this whole "deathmatch multiplayer is in most games so it has to be in all games or else the game is worthless". Deathmatch is as much of multiplayer as CS or DoD. As far as multiplayer games go, mods or not, they're two of the most popular.

They give you two multiplayer modes, but not the right ones? Valve has done more than enough work on multiplayer and to call them lazy is just ignorant.
There is a difference to creating your own mod and just making a multiplayer component based on the game. But oh well, I must be ignorant because of course, I cant know anything about such things. I in fact do know how hard it is to start a mod. But VALVe themselves stated they were just playing around when they converted CS to source and as a result, we have a new game. Now, all I am saying is why cant they just make a HL2 multiplayer component. It would probably be easier than converting CS to surce because they already have the weapons, maps, players, sounds etc. So, why not?

Maybe because they didn't want to? Don't call me a fanboy, I point out when Valve does wrong all the time. I defend them on ONE issue and I'm a fanboy? If that's the case, you're just a flaming homosexual because you type. Logic? Nope, none of that shit around here.

Just because people like HLDM, doesn't mean Valve should be obligated to make a HL2DM. The amount of people that like CS and DoD completely overshadows the HLDM players, wouldn't it be smart to devote their resources to CS:S and DoD:S instead of HL2DM which would probably get significantly less players? Again, there will most likely be a HL2DM mod. Just because it'd be easy for Valve to create a HL2DM doesn't mean it'd be easy to upkeep it and make it enjoyable. CS:S may have been created by just playing around, but it's still got major issues and it's been in the works for awhile now.

And yeah, I'm probably younger than you, but I'll call you a dumbass anyway. Age doesn't equal intelligence, asshole.

No, I called you a fanboy because I couldnt think of anything else to say that didnt sound pathetic. IE. asshole, dumbass, fucktard etc etc. I therefore apologise for caling you a fanboy. But, I am not an idiot as you pointed out. But, I will not have a petty argument over what names were called, like a couple of schoolgirls would. Why dont we just concentrate on the issue here which is about the HL2DM?

HL2DM would have been cool but they didn't add it. They chose CS:S and DoD:S and the majority of players would rather have those two. It'll be modded in, cool out.

So it would be easy for Valve but it would be hard for a mod team even though when the SDK comes out they'll have access to, more or less, the same resources?

Yes. Because it will take a while for a mod team to be able to fully utilise the SDK. It would be easy for VALVe to do it right now because they understand fully how to use the SDK and it's capabilities.

But, I am really just saying why cant they do it now? They have the ability to do so. They had the ability to do so back when there was NO CS development team. So, I dont believe it is a question of man power at all.

                  But, we shall see.
