    Gamespy Interviews Doug Lombardi

Just days after the last Doug Lombardi interview with HomeLAN, Gamespy has provided us, the internet viewing public, with another exciting Q and A session with him. Much of the same ground is covered but with a few extra and interesting tidbits.
Gamespy: Will we be seeing any new content/maps With CS: Source the only multiplayer component to HL2, are we going to be seeing any new content/maps in the retail version that people have not seen before?

Doug Lombardi: New content for CS: Source is forthcoming, as is Day of Defeat: Source and more. Please stay tuned.
Anyone wanting to stay on the top of any and all HL2/CS:S information should check this interview out. Think of it as your Counter-Strike homework. Also discussed are the upcoming SDK and that apparently CS: Source will be able to download new and custom maps from the server in a game before the map change command is issued. Nifty.

    Gamespy Interviews Doug Lombardi

Even though the releases of Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal won't even be until early next year, that doesn't stop the continuing flood of interviews. This time, it's Valve's Doug Lombardi going up to bat with GameSpy on the mound.
GameSpy: With this next-gen update and the trend toward remaking classic games for consoles, has there been any consideration of remaking the original Half-Life for next-gen consoles?

    Lombardi:
Perhaps. It'd be cool to have Half-Life running with new visuals on the Source Engine if we wanted to freshen it up. I suppose I'll clarify by saying that it's not on the boards right now, but it's not out of the question.

GameSpy: How far along are the builds of each version?

    Lombardi:
I'd say that as of now, Portal has come along the furthest; we're playtesting Team Fortress 2, and probably will continue to do so until the ship date. Of course, in the development process, PC is our main platform. However, thanks to the similarities between the Xbox 360 and the PC, the 360 game is moving along quickly. We've been in close talks with the UK team at EA, and they're making good headway on the PS3 version. I'd say that right now, we've got a good shot at making a near-simultaneous release across all platforms.
As if you couldn't tell, this three page interview deals mainly with the console versions of the games. With that said, there is plenty of new information here as previous interviews were geared more towards the PC side of things.

They need to stop asking about TF2, hoepfully they give us some juicy info after hl2 is out.

The words/expressions tidbit, peek, sneak-peek, tad, stay tuned, tune in, and snippit are just a few of the words that news posters use way too frequently. Especially that tidbit word--makes me frikkin' sick.

That interview is real short, and Doug doesn't even seems like he cares.

Valve are so full of BS as it is, every interview they promise the Earth but never deliver.

I'd just settle for the rest of the player models at this point, though new maps would be great too.

they always just say, yes, no, stay tuned, there is no information in this interview, if they said "we are 40% done with TF2, expect it in 07" then i'd be interested, but seriously, this guy couldn't give a fuck less about giving an intersting interview. that or his ass is just held down by 15 lawyers with video cameras and audio recorders trying to build a case against valve to sue them into losing all their profits and IP.

I would like to see more maps for source, particularly de_inferno and de_train. The rest of the player models would be good. Also maybe updated hostages, I liked the CZ ones, even though sometimes they were over done (they way the jumped) but they reacted a lot better.

hosties are the main concern for me. these current ones are dumber than the ones in 1.6 it seems. they have no info about objects so they like to get stuck on stuff like in the apartment in italy. redone maps is also a plus, de_prodigy, de_train, de_inferno, as_oilrig, cs_assault are the ones i would love. models arent that big of a deal right now in my eyes.

On the last question he said that there were no plans to make a HL2 deathmatch type game. I mean, come on, some people DONT like counter strike and DoD. Idiots.
