hosties are the main concern for me. these current ones are dumber than the ones in 1.6 it seems. they have no info about objects so they like to get stuck on stuff like in the apartment in italy. redone maps is also a plus, de_prodigy, de_train, de_inferno, as_oilrig, cs_assault are the ones i would love. models arent that big of a deal right now in my eyes.
Need smarter hostages that can swim and use ladders.

    Then we need as_tundra and cs_docks. :)

Can maps be created with the source engine already? Like, by just random Joe Blows?

On the last question he said that there were no plans to make a HL2 deathmatch type game. I mean, come on, some people DONT like counter strike and DoD. Idiots.
And some people don't like CS, DoD, HLDM, and some people wont even like HL2. Should they make other things to comfort every single person? No.

            Idiot.

                Q. Will the boxed versions of HL2 require any sort of Steam installations?

Doug Lombardi: During installation the user will be prompted to authenticate the copy and create a Steam account.[...]

There will have to be a way to phone it in, just like microsoft does. Because if you are forced to have an internet connection and it is not needed to play the game then I can see a lot of lawsuits coming.

Almost as ironic as someone telling someone else over the Internet to get a life, eh?

No, but I just cant stand people who say that it is ok for VALVe to just be too lazy to give HL2 a HL2 multiplayer component because it is VALVe and VALVe can do no wrong. I like Counter Strike. Always have. Doesnt mean I cant point out the facts and the non existant logic at VALVe.

Also, I dont understand the insult "get a life" because I told someone they were a VALVe fanboy. I also dont appreciate being called a "dumbass" by someone who is quite considerably younger than myself.

Actually you can have a life and still play video games, I do it all the time thanks. Nice try though.

And its obvious that I am considerably younger than you because you can tell those sort of things :)

BTW, valve doesnt owe anyone anything. They didnt add DM to hl2, oh well, get over it. They didnt do any wrong by not adding it, chances are there will be 100 other mod teams out there doing it anyways. They've got enough on their hands getting HL2, CS:Source, HL 1 : Source, and DOD : Source out the door.

There's plenty of semi-free/free/ad-supported dial-up services around. Just use one for a few minutes to create your Steam account and then get rid of it.

All the more reason for mod teams to create heaps of deathmatch multiplayer games. Valve took the time to make HL1 deathmatch - which was the only multiplayer when the game was released - and this time they're giving us two multiplayer games. Besides, if they hadn't made CS:S the main multiplayer component, HL2 would sell a lot less copies. If you're a game company trying to make money, are you going to make a multiplayer that's new and people may or may not like it or pay attention to it, or are you going to make the multiplayer that will have guaranteed success and sales. Any other company would make the same decision.

You're right: some people don't like CS:S or DoD. Some people also don't like Quake/UT style deathmatch. At least they're giving us two choices instead of one.

If your answer is "how hard could it be" then join/start a mod team and get started on your precious HL2DM mode. You accuse Valve of having non-existant logic or something but you base your argument on this whole "deathmatch multiplayer is in most games so it has to be in all games or else the game is worthless". Deathmatch is as much of multiplayer as CS or DoD. As far as multiplayer games go, mods or not, they're two of the most popular.

They give you two multiplayer modes, but not the right ones? Valve has done more than enough work on multiplayer and to call them lazy is just ignorant.

No reason to be sorry . I just get kinda agrivated when it feels like the news posts I read on every game website are all composed from the same person. That's my problem though
