I dont like how the amount of physics objects in each level differ so much between maps. I mean, play cs_office, and then play de_aztec. There are so many more client-side objects you could add to aztec. It's not a big deal, but many people seem to favor office now--not because of the map design/layout, but the amount of things they can destroy. Atleast make some statues and stuff we can blow apart in aztec.

And why doesn't de_aztec have reflective water? God, the map looked good in that first CS:Source vid released a while back, but now the water looks like that awful and ugly "jello-like" goo that UT2004 has in place of water.

Office is easy to put physics in, basically because it's indoor and there are a lot of things you can add physics to in it. I mean, aztec is outdoor and there isn't much you can put in it except barrels. A statue wouldn't really fit the theme of aztec (not to mention, where would you put it?)

That might be what you're looking for for the aztec water.

So far my thoughts on what I've seen is all the weapons seem to be cranked up versions of 1.6 in the damage department. So cranked that Kevlar and helmet are useless, buying kevlar alone might make more sense since all but a handful of weapons kill with a single hit.

The PrimoTech review was well written, but certain statements rubbed me the wrong way. Such as the previously mentioned sentence about how the pistols are useless.

                  Also, the writer states:

"From what I've gathered, it appears as though sound effects and voice-overs are precisely the same as those from CS. While the blasts of shotguns and barked orders from teammates are crisp and accurate, some update would have been welcome here."

Now, I'm not entirely sure, but I think I remember reading something about how most of the sounds were redone? Definitely all the weapons, if not the radio commands too?

                  Anyone know?

I don't think he gave valve enough credit in the sound department.

Think about all the ambient noises they've added... from the whir of the projector in office, to the great music at bombsite A in dust2, to the newsbulletin of the hostage takeover coming in over the radio in office, to the occasional chopper flying overhead...

I don't know, I guess I just really appreciate the sound, since that's one thing I know my aging computer is handling just fine!

Probably because the actual gameplay itself isn't that great. That and chateau were pretty even on the HL engine....making them even better looking doesn't change the gameplay problems.

Err, the gameplay on havana is actually *worse*, now that it has the random paths. How do you defend as a T when you dont know which of the 4 paths are actually open to the CTs? What if you are a CT, and you try to rush the two sites on the left only to find they are closed? Big time waster. It's pretty silly.

Chateau is nice, but slow for me, and the left side is too easy to get in to. A coordinated rush there is practically unbeatable.

Eugh, people would rather play dust and dust2 all day than anything else.

It makes me sick looking at the server list.

Actually, to be honest, dust2, inferno, train, and aztec were my favorite 1.6 maps. I like most of the CS:S maps, but chateau and havana are a bit rough.

Simple map layout and runs on anything which is why it's a winner
