Also, for some reason my speakers are popping like mad when standing or looking at some parts of aztec. Very strange.

Why, were you unable to hack the network?

Apart from the detailed computer and keyboard, office doesn't look that paticually amazing. Rather similar to CZ tbh, not like a complete new engine. It's just old CS really with new maps and models, like CZ. So they've done this "same game, graphical update" method a second time hmm! I'm sure if a bit more effort was put into it, CS Source would look even better. If you're telling me that those screenshots look as good as any other game that came out in 2004, then I don't know what you're talking about.

I thought that was what CS:S was supposed to be.

it is a complete new engine, the game isn't supposed to drastically change however, and it hasn't.

I just wish they would have added a "lean" option. I'm getting used to having that in all my other fps games.

I think this is extremely depressing. I expected to get blown away by CSS but instead, i realize it's just the same old crap with better graphics. So many bugs weren't removed even though they call this a full version. Full of what? BS. There's a whole like.. 7 maps? 2 player models? the sound effects are extremely lack luster as far as the guns go. There are a few cosmetic errors that im sure im no the only one who noticed, but they haven't been fixed. Anyone notice how there's a hole in the back of the USP slide when you reload? how about the fact that 2 shells come out for every one bullet you shoot? What have they been doing between the time of the beta and this release? I refuse to believe they were all slaving over those maps. With such a huge beta test, it should be nearly bug free. That's a fact. It makes me so mad that just because they released steam, they think that they can release a lack luster game with the promise of getting around to updating it. It should be great by now. It's no more than ho-hum. I would give it a 6/10. HLDM would have been so much better than this rehash of CS.

Firstly, it's MEANT to be the same old crap with better graphics. And when has an online game ever been entirely bug-free? At least it doesn't crash every 3 minutes - most of the remaining bugs are VERY minor. Remember you're meant to be playing the game for fun.

The original CS took many beta's to perfect... even when retail it still had bugs, people complained, and new stuff was added both by Valve and by the community. Give CS:S a couple of months and then tell us what you think.

Nothing's perfect. It's the imperfections that make life worth living.

Well put, but I'd just like to add one thing.

Counter-strike is the most addictive online shooter I have ever played. I've tried others, but everytime I just seem to be drawn back. I'm not entirely sure what exactly raises Counter-stirke above its competitors, and I'm not entirely sure that valve and the CSTeam knows for sure either. Maintaining the tried and true gameplay is probably the best idea, because there's the possibility that too much change will render the game simply not fun.

And that's where I'd like to draw a line. If I still have fun playing a game, despite bugs, despite age and familiarity, then I will continue to play the game. Furthermore, if this game has a history of continued support from its makers (which CS does) then I have absolutely no qualms. If it's fun, play it. If the bugs make it impossible to enjoy yourself, then wait until they're fixed and come back. Or just move on to something else.
