We all knew Steam was a direct challange to the traditional publishing/software distribution method. We now see at least one way the industry has chosen to respond to this challange. As is sadly often the case, the customer gets the short end of the stick on this one.

If Vivendi does indeed delay the release for no other reason than to play hardball with Valve, I know what my reaction will be: I'll buy it through Steam rather than a retail boxed version when it's released. It's the only way I can say **** you to Vivendi in a way they'll they have to notice.

Kinda silly when just days ago I said I would of course buy the box version and not the Steam version.

I just wish the judge would take the game away from VU and give it to a company that is willing to get the game out to the fans faster. That would be funny as hell. Haven't we waited long enough for HL2. 3, 4 ,5 years or so? How many more we gonna wait now?

        1) IF HL2 is delayed

        2) I WILL BUY it through steam. I WILL boycott VU games. They've already ruined Blizzard Entertainment

        3) If it is not avaible on Steam and is delayed 3-6 months. Forget VALVE/VU games. Both of them, the game will be dead by then.

Hehe..anyone know of a game called Daikatana?

Vivendi: Greedy French bastards. I hope they surrender to Valve in court.

VU is killing themselves with this. If even they don't hold hl2 "hostage", a lot of people are going to stop buying VU on the notion of them doing this.

In other developments in the Valve versus VUG lawsuit, the judge hearing the case in District Court pushed the cutoff date for the two sides to present relevant documents (Discovery) from October 8, 2004 to December 31, 2004.

                Half-Life 2, coming spring 2005.

                Hey Vivendi, screw off.

Well....you know.....Seems to me Valve COULD switch gears a little bit and find someone else real quick to package Counterstrike:Source in retail form. It was going to be a add-on with Half-Life, of course but if VU truly wants to be dicks here and cause Valve to miss the lucrative holiday season, they could sell us Counter-Strike:Source. I'd buy it and support em.

Perhaps I'm wrong and it is listed in the contract but I don't really know.

                  Maybe someone else knows.

Wouldn't most of you support Valve and bite the bullet and purchase Source as a stand-alone and worry about Half-Life2 later?

                    LOL!!!

I'm guessing VU will sure hold Half-Life 2 hostage, they wouldn't care about the consumers. It's all about the moolah-$, everyone boycott VU!

well..they COULD sit on it. But fans would be SERIOUSLY pissed if the game was ready to go and they were just sitting on it..so i dunno if it'd be beneficial.

You seriously think that VUG is willing to give up all of that Christmas Season Cash? NOT LIKELY

They'll drag this out for maybe a month tops. HL2 will be out by Christmas unless capitalism has truly infected the entire world. Those bastards.
