well dunno but i think VU is trying to **** valve up, they shut down sierra, now i believe that sierra was under VU, and VU shut it down.
I wonder if VU just shut down sierra to punish them for letting steam be made (because this could just kill VU's way of doing business in the game industry). And now they sue Valve to try by every mean to stop the m7GhtY StEaM they fear sooo much.
All dispositive motions must be filed by...November 18, 2004.

Settlement conference no later than January 20, 2005.

Mediation held no later than February 19, 2005.

Agreed pretrial order due March 9, 2005.

        Trial date: March 21, 2005.
HL2's release date seems now in the judge's hands. I just hope he has a son, to convince him forcing Valve to release it tomorrow morning.

Valve feels like Vivendi owes them because they signed the original contract for $30,000 to produce half life1. but they dont understand that a contract is a contract, but with the right laywers i guess anything is possible.

            Just settle it...disclosed cash amount

let the retail sell and gain some profits in order to satisfy VUG, but then let Valve release it via steam so they wont have wasted time and money as well.

Listen to the community you greedy corporates... It doesnt matter if you need new wheels for your cadillacs... dont make us suffer cause as soon as you make a game that flops youll see where your support is, nowhere.

              Hi all,

I haven't posted here for a long time. Namely because I have been busy with my life and not devoting time to discussing things with the game community.

I've always been one to try to bring the corporate perspective, regardless of how cynical I am about it. I'm back again to bring VUs perspective. See, VU has distribution rights for some Valve products. They took liberties with these rights in the past, in the hopes they could milk the HL cash-cow. That is understandable -- lawsuits are designed for that kind of thing. Put yourself in the position of the lawyers at VU (these are the same people who are backing the effort to bring lawsuits to 12 year olds who use eDonkey). They are going to do anything they can to make a buck off contractual obligations, no matter how obtuse.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be mad about what they are doing. Afterall, they are dishonest, money-grubbing bitches. Ultimately these are the kind of people who make the world a bad place, greedily accumulating homes and cars on other people's creative effort. Just realize that VU is doing exactly what they are supposed to do -- act like they own everything.

in my opinion this is wont delay hl2 too much, VU simply needs the money. They are just a dying company trying to stop the evolution of the gaming industry (since that is putting the publishers aside).

Let me explain my point of vue. With the growth of online-gaming Valve pioneerd an online delivery system called steam. Now we see Blizzard creating a blizzard-dowloader for World of warcraft. And this is just the begining. Putting a direct link between the developer and the clients is the next step in gaming and it wont be stopped. This link should provide cheaper games and better games (Lets hope)

I hope VU fails with there attempts to make Valve look like the bad guy and that the judge in this case realises he is setting a precedent here and i hope it goes Valves way, which from an objective point of vue is the best (not taking signed contracts in perspective i mean)

This makes me wonder how the source code got hacked in the first place (remember all that?)... it could've been some corporate conspiracy because of this lawsuit...

i doubt the hack has anything to do with this, but it does make think the delays might.

You worked with Serria, awsome. This sounds like Microsoft owning the OS community . Kidding. Well I think Viv should just give up you know, all they are doing is making their company look bad in a sence, and Valve is most likely going to win, why was the time and money in this battle? But, Go VALVE, WIN THIS and give up HL2 :) Sigh, Sue happy USA.
