i hope they release the game first then. Then when vivendi gets the rights to the game, valve goes out of business. then the designers (except gabe newell) start up a new company and work for vivendi to make hl3 or whatever they are going to call it.

This explains why CS:CZ was delayed 5 months after became Gold among may other things (like DoD Retail being distributed by Activision)

if you actually read VUGs claims against valve, they state that valve purposely slowed or delayed the development of the game just so they could try to get sierra to sign over the rights to half life.

The best part is that VU wants to force Valve to consider working with them. (the HL series, and splits off or code material are AMAZING cash cows..and VU would be an idiot to let go of it willingly)
Because Vivendi is going to make the CDs and those HL2 boxes, just as Sierra did for the first Half-Life.

It's simply because the game won't be popular if it's only gonna be realeased on Steam. Valve wants new players to see the HL2 box at their local game shop and say "OMFG This game look soooooooooo cool!".

Even if HL2 IS made available on steam, I'm pretty sure many will just buy an actual physical copy of the game.
Yeah but even if you buy it in a box... You'll need Steam to be able to play online.

I still think it's nice to have a "little" company as Valve who works on only one product but makes it ammazing.

Official lawsuits can't be lies. Or can they?

CZ is a good game btw. If you buy it you help to fund Valve to make even better games ;-)

I got flammed a LOT on one of the forums for saying that. (ex. "You idiot! They're rich enough!") Pathetic...

They've allready made a crap ton of money with HL1 and all of its mods.

As well with the HL2 ATI vouchers.

I have the ATI voucher allready entered with my steam account, and all of the pre-loads. Soo the day HL2 is out im gonna be killing me some zombies

Let me get this straight Valve sues Vivendi 1.5 years ago. Last year ATI releases video cards with HL2 coupons (not that anyone really bought them for just that reason). Now the Va and Vi are arguing again. Meanwhile we all are patiently waiting for HL2. ATI is lucky they did not print a release date for HL2 on their coupons or there would probably be a class action lawsuit against ATI. They (ATI) would in turn sue Valve, who would inturn sue Vivendi again cause ATI was suing them. IMHO Doom3 blows! Far Cry is a joke. UT 2004 is also a joke. The moral of all this! probably not one.

                      ATI video Card = $129.98

                      Addition 512MB DDR = $65.00

This whole crap over HL2 = Priceless! $0.00

                      LOL

HL2 not being delivered on Steam would nullify the past x years of work valve has put into a platform specifically designed for HL2. Boy, would that suck.

I can't say I'd be terribly saddened if Steam were to die off though.

Yeah for Valve and more lawsuits and other crap. Just give us HL2 and then deal with your silly lawsuits... I hate the USA's way of doing thing, if you got money and piss someone off, your going to get sued for the stupidest of reasons. What is valve losing??? 5cents\copy of HL2 or HL???, hrf... Interesting.

Ty... I know Valve doesn't care about me anymore, thank you very much... Who cares, Valve has sooo much happen to them, they don't need another thing to deal with is what I think I should just say. This lawsuit might ruin them as a company, because people who are like me that have been throught he who time of Valve's game and now this lawsuit, makes me not too happy I won't be able to see my HL2 anytime soon. And not to meantion ATI's coupon thing, yeah. But good luck to Valve, can't wait to see the out come. Ohhh btw the lay I like the last sentence of the quote "We expect to prevail in this lawsuit." They think it, but it could be anyones game, and all the more reason Vi Uni. doesn't copy HL2 for them and its ship date pushed back another year maybe?
