Both games use advanced physics engines but in Doom 3 the environmental physics seem like an after thought with purely aesthetic value and no gameplay purpose. To be honest you really don't see all to many physics tricks in Doom 3. Half-Life 2 takes physics to the next level making them paramount to gameplay, even including a weapon that takes advantage of the Havok 2 physics engine running under the hood.
