Actually DaveJ, the least played map is that speaker test thingy. I'm sure I saw a server or two running it...

Have you looked outside in doom3? its wonderful, i run my doom3 settings on high and its spectacular to watch, the only downfall i saw in the entire game that made me angry was the mouths of the characters. It must be extremely difficult to make the throats of the characters look realistic instead of just "black" i hope HL2 is different in that sense. I was going to hold back on buying doom3 but when the beta got delayed from 8/10 or whatever i just said what the hell, but i dont regret it at all. I just hope HL2 and Full version Counterstrike source wow me the way doom3 did.
Yeah...(sigh) No one makes dark endless metal corridors like ID.
They truly are masters in their field.
oh yea doom3 mp just is too much i think for my comp to handle, ive only tried it once and it froze immediately when i saw another player. I'll probably never try it again thanks to the BETA! I've been playing FPS since Wolfenstein3d and I am so happy that these two games are so Stand-out awesome over previous FPS that have come out recently. What i mean is, does anyone except us gamers ever heard of farcry? Ive seen newspaper articles for doom3 and ive seen HL2 on like cnn.com and normal everyday people know how cool these games are. Its suddenly ok for me to bring up videogames in conversation again... ha! jkComment

why does doom 1 adn 2, from my memory of years ago, seem so less advanced than doom3. i remember going ot my cousins house nad playing doom, it was so stupid and weird...just running around mazes?? well doom3 seems to have a plot now...any1 inform me on the ploits of doom 1 and 2? because its just such a blur these days [too lazy to look up online]Comment

DOOM 1 and 2 were just "shoot the evil naughties from hell". In fact i think the final level on DOOM1 was just a big room where endless bad guys spawned and you had to kill all of them?
id realized they have to actually make plotlines to do well with a single player title now, even though the technology is advanced, which is why DOOM3 actually makes some sense.
On CS:S, i'm kinda glad they released de_dust as the map, if they were only going to do one. It is the least changed map over the years, and most played, so it gives everyone a good reference as to the things that changed wrt gameplay and the engine; in a sense it defocuses your attention from the map itself, and lets you enjoy the engine updates more.
p.s. DaveJ said "daft". He gets the english brownie of the dayComment

If you use the keyboard editor to bind keys to changeteam and screenshot, it won't work
bind "F5" "screenshot"
bind "M" "chooseteam"
I had to manually set in the console.
Does anyone know of any other graphics tweaks to get smoother performace? I run an AMD XP 2100, 512 ram, Nforce2 sound, and a 9500 PRO (stock speed, 4.8 catalyst). At 800*600 or higher I get this weird video lag every 2-3 seconds, but at 640*480 with all options low or off it is buttery smooth until a firefight D:
I LOVE the new flashbangs though. I can't wait for the real deal to get released, I'm having so much fun playing CS again. I love the new physics and the fact a grenade can move a dead body. I got killed in a corner and my body stayed propped up, people kept shooting it thinking I was still alive. and and and ....

Anyone has the same problems with cs:s?
Videotest is about 80fps, during game its 50-60fps but the ping is increasing immediately after joining the game. Raises to over 300, no fun to play at all... server ping in steam is about ~50
Got a 768kbs ADSL and never had problems bevore. CPU 2.66, MSI 5900FXComment

To the Doom fans (even though we're in CS-Nation), the storyline for Doom III is actually very similar to Doom I. Just a few minor changes along with a better job at delivering the storyline (Doom II [not sure about Doom I] simply revealed text in between "checkpoint" levels, but it did explain how you're supposed to finish the game).

Oh and DaveJ, do keep posting very daft, stupid and ignorant messages. They're as hilarious as the links you put under your name.Comment
