    CS: Source Bits

I am almost absolutely sure there are some Counter-Strike addicts out there that are going without sleep for days on end, constantly restarting their Steam clients to see if CS: Source is pre-loading yet. And while I don't bring that good news, I do bring the news of a veritable cornucopia of CS: Source previews, hands-on, and screenshots of the new incarnation of Counter-Strike.This should keep most of you entertained for at least the time being. The Counter-Strike: Source BETA will be released this Wednesday for those who have an ATI voucher or Counter-Strike: Condition Zero.

    CS: Source Bits

With the recent release of the Counter-Strike: Source BETA there's been a couple of new newsbits that have been sent our way.
    • first up, vr-zone hardware has put together a cs: source benchmark article that compares today's latest and greatest video cards. see how your card stacks up against the rest. they'll soon have a second part that compares the low to mid-range cards.

    • secondly, there's a great tutorial for creating sprays for use in cs: source. here is a prime example of what can be achieved in terms of spray quality on the new engine. it should be noted that the current build of cs: source does not allow for custom sprays. however, this tutorial should allow you greater time to exercise your creative abilities before the final product releases.

      CS: Source Bits

With the release of Counter-Strike: Source comes a slew of great reviews and interesting benchmarks. Take a break from drooling over the capabilities of the Source engine with your buddies and then submitting hundreds upon hundreds of screenshots in hopes of one becoming the POTD and read a fine review or two.

Calm down, read those articles and browse the screenshots. The day is young.

PS: Today is the date where CS: Source is supposedly pre-loading, which means you wouldn't be able to play it today anyway.

I read somewhere that it was supposed to preload around 12 AM - 3 PM -8GMT, which would mean there is still sometime left before they are "late."

I don't know how reliable that source is, as it is from SteamPowered forums.

Nonetheless just relax, we can't play it till Wednesday anyway.

"have also have" i realized that we preload today, but must wait till wed the 18th before we can play.
Just got out of a review meeting. 8/11 the Cafe's turn on (tomorrow). 8/16 CZ/ATI users pre-load. 8/18 CZ/ATI turns on. 8/17 HL-2 pre-load starts (textures, audio and other stuff that doesn't change).
most likely because hl2 is preloading tomorrow the 17th, and that in combination of everyone playing cs source would probably slow it down. makes sense to get it all out the door before its attacked by thousands upon thousands of gaming feinds
