the thing to remember is that this is a new engine. When the original halflife came out im sure nobody then could achieve a solid 100fps. 5 years down the line i bet most people will be able to get 100fps on even and modest card.

Smart map makers are going to love source. There's so many new elements they can take advantage of-- setting up the lighting so that certain positions reveal a players shadow, physics objects to help plant the bomb in hard to reach places, those are just a few off the top of my head-- I can't wait to see what custom maps pop up.Comment

NONONON!! No more stopsound or ex_interp .1 (never liked 0) They still have hud_fastswitch right?
So it looks like boosting is still possible but only when next to a wall. That makes sense actually. It'd be pretty difficult I imagine to program one player actually boosting another player up (foot onto interlocked hands), so boosting next to a wall for balance is a pretty good representation of it. Shouldn't really change gameplay, most boost spots are next to walls, and when they're not, they're pretty useless.
I like that you can stand on the moveable objects such as barrels, I look forward to seeing people walking backwards on forward rolling barrels. Running into rubber tires knocks you back, that's cool. Also glad to see ex_interp gone.
The removal of stopsounds makes alot of sense considering the added flashbang sound. I don't like that close-landing grenades stop you from moving. Seems like if anything, they should push you away. The new smoke sounds cool.
I'm going to go try it out later tonight, so just to be nice, leave a question or two and I'll read them before I go and try to answer them after playing.Comment

Good to know, makes me happy, since all boosts are to get on top of something like a box. No more towers in the middle of nowhere though. But that's not a big loss.

The new headshot icon looks like ass. It's somewhat reminiscent of Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars with a firecracker sticking out of his head.

The first hour anyone is in a server, they will be easy to spot. They will be the ones aimlessly wandering around saying "Wow" and being shot by someone who has already gone through that.
Funny...after 5 years, we'll all be semi noobs again. Looking forward to playing this myself. Hurry up CZ Pre-Load!!Comment

ah i did not see the wall boost, that is very clever. once again <3 valve. ah and it would have very sweet to see more grenade blowing up effect, but of course, that would be kinda crazy. i was thinking along the liens of atleast blowing u to your knees in a sense then slowly comign back up but i suppose that would be a team killer tastic in leagues, 1 well placed gren. ah would also imagine just plain getting pushed around and maybe fuzzing your vision a bit ( a la doom3 when u get that screamy orb thingy, very nifty) while pushing u a good yard away form the blast center. my $o.o2Comment
