I knew some people will bash the game sooner or later. It's common for a game with such a huge community.

Yeah I expected you to say something like that. Has it ever occurred to you that it's a FUCKING BETA! BETA ISN'T FINAL! *shakes head* Typical... True Dat! It's not the size of the community, It's the age and maturity of those participating in the community. Isn't HL/HL2 rated mature (17+)? If people enforced that we wouldn't have this problem...

de_dust is the only map that's playable in the cs:source beta

The only map available is de_dust. It's just a beta and Valve has said it's not a beta for CS:S it's more so for Valve to work out the kinks in the source engine. So they can get an idea of how it works once it's release publicly.

Hmmm.. I remain undecided I guess. After all the hours I've been spending on Doom3, its hard to judge other games off graphics alone. Its all about the gameplay though, so we'll see I guess..

Oh please are you another one of those people who hasn't played doom 1 or 2 and expected 3 to be revolutionary experience? Doom3 was fucking awesome and good to it's TRUE doom fans that appreciate it for what it's really worth.

Anyways, back on topic. I think this beta is in fact a cs:s beta and not a "source test". If you can link me to a interview or something that would be helpfull. I believe they did/are doing their testing on source/hl2 in private.

If it's all about gameplay, you already know the verdict. CS has been around for years.



Doom 3 is not and cannot be held as a yardstick against CS-Source.



CS-Source is "only" a port of CS 1.6 on the source engine. It still carries all the weaknesses and strengths of the 1.6 game, just with a different engine.



HL2 and Doom 3 you may compare. But until there is a CS2, the comparison fails.
