There doesn't have to be an offical date to be delayed. HL2 had maybe one offical date, and how many times was it delayed?
You are right about me not seeing the code for steam, but how does a company that codes leading edge 3D graphis/physics/AI not put together a simple "shell" program and instant messageing program?
A. Valve was never a friend of mine
B. If I'm not sure if my info is correct, i dont say it or i announce it might be false.
It's not that I don't like valve, I just don't like how companies are run. Enron! woot!
Steam is not only a "shell" and instant messaging system, it is a content delivery system and manages all the servers within itself. It is one thing to code a game, it is a whole different thing to code a revolutionary method of deliverying/supporting games.
I never said there has to be an official date for it to be delayed, I have no idea where your grounds are for this one.
As for valve being your friend, that was for mere comparison purposes to my previous comment in that post.
This isn't really a "business" issue as a beta isn't being "sold". It is simply being distributed by choice of valve. I don't really see any reason to delve into how valve is run because we aren't actually there, and we don't actually know factually where and why they make certain decisions. We can only assume.
w00t w00t, won't ever hear the end of it...
