It's funny all these people flaming Steam seem to not remember all the times WON came under attacks just like this and you couldn't play CS for extended periods of time.

I was going to quote a few people, but would end up being most of the people that posted. Is it quoted as an attack from someone who is pissed because they closed down WON? I'm to lazy to see when the first attaks came, but maybe it's just a bunch of regular assholes?
What exactly is a DoS attack? I know what DoS stands for, but I'm wondering how it would be done...guess I'm off to howthingswork.com heh.Comment

What's really funny is reading some of the comments that Steam is vulnerable because, in their opinion, "Steam sucks".
People....Major multi-million dollar companies are vulnerable. EVERY company is vulnerable. Quite honestly, Steam keeps bouncing back from these attacks admirably well. Much better than Microsoft did when they were attacked..and I bet they have some serious firewalls in place for MSN etc.Comment

Grow up.
Aside from the rough start Steam had it's fine now. WON went down a lot in it's day and Steam still doesn't go down as much as WON seemed to go. When WON went down it was down for quite a while and when Steam goes down it's back up pretty quickly. I think people seem to forget how much of a pain in the ass it was to get the old updates. The internet would be backed up and it would take about a day to download the new patch but with Steam it only takes a couple minutes.Comment

Indeed. It also has better stability. The only thing that was slacking is the "friends" feature. I remember that it worked well during the Steam BETA but then started to malfunction shortly after the release of Counter-Strike 1.6
