i am gonna throw flashbangs everywhere, team flashing will grow to new heights and have much more effectiveness now
HankPym wrote..Right, I think if stopsound was taken away, people would still get along without it and it wouldn't make people play crappily, but it's just an unnecessary distraction.
Sorry dude, couldn't disagree with you more. If skill is really the big concern here, then there would be no problem, since the players you're talking about who use "stopsound" are undoubtedly so skilled that they don't need to use it, right? I mean, they're supposed to be so good, so what's a couple of crickets or running water in the background.
See what gets me about so many of these CS arguments is that people tend to hide behind the "skill" excuse when what they're really referring to is ways to make the game easier for them. Why make the game harder than it should be? Again, it's player vs. player, team vs. team, not player vs. player vs. map.
I say if you want to encourage skill, you should encourage the removal of the stopsound command. Train those ears to hear over the background noise. You can do it. You're "skilled," remember?Maybe if the ambience wasn't so damn loud, you could.
Bruce Willis wrote..I don't think it'd impact the game one way or the other. You do know that the CPL used cl_minmodels 1 so that all T models are the same, and all CT models are the same. Happening to have your player skin match the texture that you're standing against is not skill, sorry.
Right on, carrying on entro's argument you could say that player skins only get in the way of one's "skill" and should therefore all be monochrome.
Thortok2000 wrote..I'd be okay with that, though I don't see what the big deal is about people who use it. In the end, if you can't shoot them, it's not the rain's fault. The same thing could be said against my argument, but like I said, the ambience doesn't make me aim worse, throw my nades crappier, plant the bomb.. sloppily? It's just an unnecessary and annoying distraction that shouldn't be apart of competitive play. For pubs, no big deal except that it's annoying.
I'd much rather stopsound be removed, and map makers make more 'pleasing' ambient noise, then to keep with the current system of ugly ambient noise and people just muting it because it's annoying. This should be very possible in CS:S.
crazychicken wrote..You do know that not all maps that are played in CS are made by Valve, right?
cliffe mentions that now new maps will be more like real locations and not arenas
hes a fucking liar, most maps based in real locations like oilrig or thunder are getting fewer and fewer in number in favour of arenas with a visual theme; like dust or aztec and now iceworld ffs
FUCKING ICEWORLD, cs was meant to be rainbow6 with no planning not quake
-:Nighthawk:- wrote..Oh I know. I was just explaining what stopsound does. I wasn't saying it has disadvantages from using it, though I guess it does, but they're so minimal that they shouldn't even be regarded.
Your opponent's next footstep will be present in a quarter of a second, where as the ambient sounds will be gone for good. Hardly a valid comparison.
HankPym wrote..Don't think it'd be exactly the same, but similar. What about the roundtime at 2:30, and the various changes that came with that update? That was pruposed by Shaguar, a prominant e-sports competitor.
I believe that this game would be exactly where it is today, even if the so-called "e-sports" did not exist.
It would be very difficult to prove either one of us wrong on this issue, though...
crazychicken wrote..Actually, I'd argue that competitive players, by ratio, do buy more copies of HL/CS simply because alot of them cheat and get caught.
yeah becusae those cpl players sure do buy more copies than all of us noobs
and us noobs will only buy hl2 and csS to be like our heroes in the cpl
household names and such
cpl is the biggest waste of time ive ever seen
whole point of computer games is enjoyment not walking everywhere and camping the bombsites like fags
If people are going to play the game to the point where they care about completely level playing fields, they should atleast know some of the basic important console commands, like stopsound. Yea, I have stopsound bound to "f". Playing matches on train, and having to hear the annoying, poor quality triggers go off is just frustrating. That, and usually in pubs when some idiot starts trying to coordinate movements like it matters, I'll hit stopsound rapid fire to make sure I don't hear him.You know The Mute button works wonders.
crazychicken wrote..Uh welcome to beta 4 ????
you guys do realise that VALVe fuck up everything they lay their hands on
only decent maps are customs any more VALVe are trying to make cs a pure deathmatch experience and taking out all of the fun in maps because all you tards who take cs so seriously cant handle a map with a fixed mg position in it
Belze wrote..E-Sports are not the back bone of this game. CPL took in CS because it was the most played Multi-player game ever to date. The community of Players be it "Pro" or "n00b" are the back bone and it is a damn shame Cal/CPL wont upgrade to HL:CZ it is much better than 1.6.
I hope that Valve focus a little bit more the develop of CS.Scource to the esport scene. That´s the backbone of the game.
When I read which maps they convert untill now ( for example Havana, Piranesi and Chateau ) I´m note sure they do. No one play that maps on tournaments or online leagues. Maybe the CPL need to consult them.
inferno, train, nuke and prodigy need to be addet before launch.
CaRboNiTe wrote..Makes you feel like the US military doesn't it? Getting killed by untrained* forces in IRAQ.
Oh yeah and what #199 said. I wish they'd make CS:S a little less noob friendly. Makes me laugh when you see someone who has been playing the grand sum of 3 days mow down someone who is in a top level clan by random spray. Gotta love that.
Actually no.
entRo wrote..Huh? I said making the skins all monochrome, as in bright red or green? Not simply using the same skin for every player, I wouldn't even call that an advantage.
