I started a new account and click on CS. It shows for $39.95 but you get everything CZ and CS. :/
This is just stupid for $10 (or £10 quid over here in england which is basically twice the price *cough*rippoff*cough*) you can buy hl in a shop and get everything except for Condition Zero, or you can pay $35 and get everything except for Condition Zero and counter-strike. Its the most stupid pricing system I've ever seen.Comment

As long as they dont screw with people who already bought HL long time ago it's cool.
but they must admit that their marketing can work on being less confusing ..
they should do something like this:
option 1) half life 1 + any HL 1 mod
2) Condition Zero..
plain and simple, no cross over bullshit by coupling CZ with CS just to sell CZ.Comment

Do you think it's because there is NOT enough bandwidth? They want you to go to the store and not d/l it from them? Maybe that is another reason they are taking WON servers down. Use it for another content server.
Well I suppose the bottom line is it's kind of a strange thing for Valve to be doing, it doesn't make a lot of sense to anyone here. But if that's what they want to do I suppose they can.Comment

i JUST made the connection. Valve is shutting down WON..meaning that a whole new bunch of people will be needing to DL steam. Then, when they type in their HL key...they ARENT going to get CS. This means everyone who just had HL, even those that were playing 1.5, are going to need to buy CS retail or CZ.
I better get an award for this!Comment

...but you think that valvE would WANT people to buy and download from Steam. I mean that was the point of Steam right? So you think it would be cheaper threw Steam and you would get CS. Not the other way around (at a store)
So what the point of Steam again?Comment

and lie about HL2! one week one week!!! one week before it was in my hands!!!!
Two mistakes valve should have never made:
1) Steam
2) Condition Zero
- Then everything would be great and this community would not be complaining about Valve all the time.
- We would not have a divided community.
Valve, WTF have you done?Comment

Read the thread or just the news post. Current 1.5 users already have their 1.6 steam key. Gameshot already noted that earlier in the thread.

Also, what would marketing people have to do with setting prices on steam? I think Valves marketing consists of 1 overworked PR guy.
The fact is that you can still get CS as a completely free mod if you go to the shop and buy one of the trillion HL varients for about $10.
I can only think there is some legal or buerocratic reason as to why you currently have to pay more to get it over steam, because as many have noted, its just asinine and works against the whole point of steam.Comment

w00t w00t, I don't think the world needs more Microsoft companies :-S... But I remember when you didn't have Steam, you had to have different CD keys for each computer to play togerther online at once, or at a LAN, use to piss me off sooo much, so I think I should be able to get 10 CS:S and CZ:S beta for my computers
Same here, have HL and CZ. Actually I only bought CZ for the HL2 footage. Oh by the way, shut up folks. You're still getting 10 games or so for 100 dollars. That's dirt cheap. If valve wanted to go Microsoft, they'd charge 30 dollars a game. Or 70 dollars for CS.
w00t w00t, I don't know, if they said the HL cd-key will get you it but what ever, I got a couple copies of CS:CZ around my house, for who knows why my friends gave it to me lol.
