it depends on the game. a game like farcry may rely more on the gfx card than the cpu. often bottlenecking happens when u have multiple pieces doing the same work in a line of sorts. gfx and cpu calculate different things, so i dont belive it would be a situation of classic bottlenecking.Comment

Stick with Western Digital or Maxtor. I have a couple Maxtor DiamondMax 9s in my rig, and they are pretty quiet, but they dont perform as well as WDs would. Though, you probably couldnt notice a real world difference though. 80 Giggers give you pretty good value right now.
im still choked at what G-Card (get it get it G-man.. G-Card... heh) to buy. i know the rest of my specs so im just waiting and looking at brands, prices, deals and types of Hard Drives.
btw what type of hard drives should i get (i want multiple Drives, 2 maybe)Comment

yeah im thinking 2 connected WD Raptors (74Gig or more when it comes out). and one SATA 160 or 200 GB by itself from Seagate or WD. What is the best RAID controller??
why such a big hard drive? im going to do video editing as well. PLus i want to have one group for Linux and one for Windows.
is DDR3 even coming out (is GDDR available for actual boards or is it for cards? im getting confused) ... cause im planning on maxing out at 2GB on a 32 bit system (P4EE 3.4 HT i think with a 1ghz FBS, i have to look again).
Also about graphics drivers issues. i think ive had more in the past related to Nvidia. the only problem ive had with ATi is that one driver they made that was slightly buggy with some third party cards (never buy sapphire unless you buy the ultimate and you pick drivers carefully).
lastly anyone know a good motherboard that can run all this (possibly with PCI express)???? whats a good company (chaintech, abit, etc.)????Comment

thats bs. VALVE said a 2.0ghz processor or higher, my self, i have
amd athlon xp 2800+ @2.5ghz
ATI 9800xt 256mb
soundblaster audigy2 ZS
1gb dual channel geil 512mb(x2) pc 3200 ddr ram
i mean, any 9800pro and over to the x800xt can run at max settings, its just the matter of the graphical quality your card can produce. and DONT cheap out on the ram, u want 1 gig if u plan on running at max setting, cause the game will demand over 512mb, more like 650mb.cigpzer0x wrote..
get a seagate HDD they dont get too hot, and they are VERY reliable!
