most likely its the gameplay sushi.

and in the first screenshot I notice some type of grenade. Does this mean everything you buy can be noticed by everyone else? I wonder

those models are freakin ugly. Not fat, but checkout that one T's head, it's all crooken, and he has this huge flat forehead. Lame. I thought with HL2 they were bringing in more complex faces, yet these have the same "painted on" look and straight line curves as any regular old game.

we got good reason to complain, considering graphics seem to be the bulk of what CS:S is updating. The models aren't even close to par with what HL2 has proven it can do, and I don't know about you, but most CS players don't trust valve. We try our best to speakout and let it be known

WOW, 180 comments? Good times, stop ripping Valve because of their crap images, you want good images? GET THEM YOURSELFS!!!!!!! And be happy, that csnation atleast posted these, give them a break, I will stop for once bash Valve, they have mad me happy with CS:S images, and work on HL2 looks like it been worth the wait hopefully. So good luck Valve :)

Addon: To the post above mine, yes they have painted on stuff, they just coverted CS, they didn't change much you know right? After the first release of CS:S, CS:S models nad other objects and stuff will become much nicer looking :)

Yeah. Maybe after CS:S is released, they'll release another retail CS that'll improve the game as much as CZ did! Oh... never mind...

Fact is, you're judging a product that isn't even out yet. Heck, it's not even a product! Stop whining. VALVe has been getting WAY more bashing than it deserves. If it was half as bad as most of you guys state, there wouldn't be a CS:Source. CS:S is completely free, so what can you say, you get what you payed for!

and please don't get all high and mighty about how you deserve MORE as a customer of VALVe. You barely show them enough respect for what they've already given you, let alone for what they're trying to do for you in HL2 with CS:S. In fact, not only are they updating CS to Source, but DoD, TFC, Opposing Force, Blue Shift, and Half-Life 1! Really do you think them trying to run Steam, plus convert all these games, plus trying to include all these new features will leave them enough time to absolutely polish everything to the last except for HL2? They'll be adding vehicles for crying out loud!

If you guys are such conniseurs of modelling and skinning, maybe you can show up VALVe by making your OWN version of CS, or maybe you could make your own models for it. Seriously, if VALVe was out to get you, they wouldn't have bought CS, they wouldn't be updating, and they wouldn't be trying to make it better.

          I type too much... bah...

w0ot, Left-hand pride. I'm left-handed and Valve used left-handed models on their screenshots.

E-mails to VALVe have confirmed that the games ported to Source are NOT free, including Counter-Strike: Source. The real question is, do we get a discount for one or more Source ported games after buying HL2?
Your right CS:S isn't free. You need to by HL2 to use the engine. I'm guessing that if a sourced mod comes out it'd be free because it's it's not seperate from HL2. Ya know .. like if you bought HL and then bought CS. You can have HL uninstalled and CS runs on it's own. BUT if you bought HL then downloaded CS (back before steam) CS was free but used HL... i think that's kinda clear. So, if you wanted to by like HL2: Blue Shift it's be the same as HL2 alone (probably)

K-16 you are dumb.... direct contact over forums with Valve have clearly shown that CS:Source is a free mod!

but h/e please show w/e proof im curious. cause i need to start saving
Your right. It's completely free. BUT if you dont want HL2. Valve might ship CS:S seperate for the same price or something...

Ok... I noticed how most of you said that the models are hunched-backed. I looked into this and that is the stance that modern Police Forces (Example: SWAT, GSG-9) use. So the hunched part is very realistic.
If you've ever fired a fully automatic rifle, smg, or large cal. handgun, you would know that it requires off, sometimes uncomfortable stances to keep control and actually shoot acc. groupings.

I think the important thing to remember is that this is still being worked on. I'm sure by the time it's released the models and maps will be looking as good as a lot of the posters here want.

Actually, now I look at the screenshots, this could probably all be achieved in the HL1 engine. Apart from the physics and some of the lighting, hmm, what do u think?
I think that you should STOP DOING DRUGS.

am i the only one who has the feeling that the models are not that good? i mean.. they look pretty weird .. and bad :/ like the egg shape head.. fatness and the fact that they look/move more dumbly :O also.. the maps look great but could it be something like CZ again? just some new textures??? i know something has changed but they changed cz maps a bit.. like they did here...

lol all u people b**chin and moanin... 1 - it aint finished

                              2 - they've only ported it rite?

3 - even if they are low poly and quality, then they are obviously just trying to get a wider audience, with lower spec's bcos these are the people that play cs now, they won't wana pay (all these 1000's of dolars, i cud make a hl2 ready pc WELL under £800 with spares)

anyhoo.. all the modelers and skinner who work their asses off 2day for the cs we all know and love now, will be doing exactly the same of cs:s... and if u really can just port thing's over.. then i assume all the models we have now, cud pretty much be copied over, but with the new engine and people buying better stuff then new higher quality higher poly guns will be made, stop moaning give them chance to get it done, and don't judge it on pre-release, pre-finished pictures! so the guns look a bit crap atm, so what?! give them chance! it'll all come out shiny and new and you will all love it!

on the shadow thing, this is obviously a minor thing, and i agree if they want realism it's to be thought of, but i highly doubt they will be thinking on minor things such as that atm, personally the shadow detail is awesome, totaly ray drawn, i mean in the video.. the way the shadow deformed up the wall.. just how it should.. for a multiplayer fps, that is AMAZING, a muzzleflash shadow is minor at this stage, but with POSITIVE feedback im sure it is something that will get addressed either post or pre release... but give em chance guys, they've bin slaving over your complaints about hitboxes, timers, awps, and cheaters on CS.. your hardly leaving them time to think about a muzzleflash, or a texture...

anyway that aside GOD DAMN FIIIINE looking game, the video footage was awesome, and these screenshots look nice, very nice but guys just give them a chance...

EDIT: also, if u didn't want HL2, but wanted CS:S, for the same price? why just buy CS:S when u cud buy hl2, and get CS:S free??

it makes no real sense to buy 1 game when you could get 2 for the same price :S anyway sorry just read-up

yes yes. this comment sounds like its coming from the "hey, the shells eject on the wrong side, valve pls fix asap" crowd. its just a game. and certain elements must be compromised to achieve a balance of realism and fun.

Ts holding an AK and galil at the hip for example could be easily distinguished from CTs in the dark or far away just by the fact they are holding the weapon at teh hip.
