this release of cs 1.5 won't divide the community very much, I'd rather play 1.5 over 1.6 but there is no future for 1.5 plus the differences between the two would throw off skill just a bit

lol you are all so childish, i love how u all diss on 1.5 even tho it was ur beloved CS at some point, just cuz 1.5 doesnt have all the wacky, crazy, newbish updates that 1.6 has, thrown together with a few nice touch-ups on the maps, doesnt mean it sucks.

i don't think there's anything wrong with 1.6, but the hitboxes, everything else is fine. i do feel a little uncomfortable now that there's no more quick scoping.

Yes...we're the childish ones. Because we were willing to let an old version go and accept new changes. Because we don't use words like "newbish." Because we're not rushing out to download a mod of a mod, which will reach a total of 25 players if its lucky.

For the record, I never said 1.5 sucks. It was a fine version, in its day. Move on, though.

[sarcasm]When is someone going to release CS Beta 6 for Steam? That version was the best, everything since then has been for newbs.[/sarcasm]

A 1.5 clinger-to had the nerve to call us childish? That's roflable. It is even more so than the 1.3 loving morons.

isn't the whole point of 1.5 to be without steam, what in the f?

Let me set a few things straight before anybody else disses this project.

CS 1.5 for Steam is a re-hash of CS 1.5 on the WON network, yes, that's been established.

The reason CS 1.5 on Steam exists is to ease the transition from the WON network to the Steam network and also to avoid the seemingly weekly updates that tend to cause problems. This way the only updates that will affect the user are actual Steam platform updates, not CS updates like the AWP quickswitch, buggy shield, and questionable hitboxes.

This mod is only here for those in between CS 1.3 and CS 1.6. There are more features and less bugs than CS 1.3, and there are many less bugs than CS 1.6.

Some people also enjoy the classic versions of maps like de_aztec, de_inferno, and de_cbble.

If you enjoy CS 1.6, then this mod is not for you. If you don't enjoy the past and recent updates, this may be exactly what you're looking for.

Yeah, finally I can LAN again with good old 1.5, sigh I miss good old times with CS 1.4... Why did they have to upgrade from 1.4, it was fine then, but no. But great job, looking forward to it :)

Will your CS 1.5 for Steam have VAC support, or how is that going to be? Or will the newer Anti-Cheat programs coming out be able to support this? Just wanted to know if VAC is going to be compiled with this, or if Valve isn't going to support it?

                        Anti-Cheat Support:

Valve will most certainly not support VAC for this mod, however, we have made it mandatory that all servers run with HLGuard 1.60 with blacklist protection enabled, which means that if HLGuard ever caught anybody cheating in ANY mod, they would instantly be kicked off CS 1.5 Steam servers instantly, VAC style.

bout time they take out won servers and show these whinny 1.5 people that the world moves on and if you don't like it,

then suck it. valve has been too nice in keeping those won servers seriously. you 1.5 fanatics don't deserve that.

yeah don't commit suicide when won is gone :o

Almost every other game I know requires you to have the latest version to play, usually because of bug fixes, exploit fixes, cheat/hack fixes, and last but not least, new features (if any).

Feel lucky Valve even lets you play 1.5 on THEIR servers that THEY pay for. Without WON or Steam you'd all be on IRC trying to find IP numbers to play at (or some other server browser; I don't know how they work but it seems like they'd have to connect to a service like steam or won to operate). Most companies would usually disallow earlier versions.

From the sound of this mod, though...Is a CD key required? I hope it's not giving out free 1.5. Or do you need a cd key just to have a steam account?

I've always been obsessive compulsive about having the 'latest and greatest' version. Sure, some bugs may come that weren't there previously, but those get fixed. The crosshairs, for instance, bugged me just as much as anyone else, when they were huge. But it got fixed.

I just figure that the people still playing 1.5 have a total lack of adaptability. Of course, that's true of most CS players. I have yet to find a local server that doesn't ban the shield; a lot ban autosnipers too (excepting those that would but don't know how). A lot of them are banning autobuy, a feature I find useful, because of an exploit that allows you to buy banned weapons through autobuy. I can't even play on a server without autobuy because I removed my other buy scripts to free up my keys for other binds.

Anyway, a lot of people only played 1.5 because it was steam-free and those people will probably convert to 1.6. Those who actually stick with this 1.5 mod will slowly decline and not gain new followers. Let them hang on to a dying version as long as they want. After all, there's STILL people in the world who think the earth is flat.

                                Thortok:

If the shield worked, updates didn't bork clients and servers on a constant basis, shot registered, and fps didn't decline for no reason, then I'd see your point.

We don't think the world is flat, we think that the world should be pre-iraq and start from there. LOL!
