In one of the next updates(if not tonight's) they are going to re-work the generic error messages, and make them more specific to the actual problem.

I guess I have just been lucky. I have only gotten maybe two errors while I used steam and that includes when it was in beta stages. To me the updates are good and have sped up steam but haven't really fixed much. I guess it might just be my experience though. After all, nightly virus scans and spy-ware checks coupled with weekly disk scans and defrags are a standard for all computers I own (about 5 but I have parts for a lot more.)

I got a e-mail from the HLDS newsletter thing and it had a patch to fix CS lag. Is that included in this update?

This is basically a sign that you should be using your middle finger more, obviously. Try it out, and let us know how long it takes for you to get your nose broken too! :)

Nah, it's legit, see the following:

We have identified the cause of the lag and have created a fix for it.

Updated game dlls will be released via Steam next week.



In the meantime we have a hotfix available, the updated game dlls can be

downloaded from:

http://www.steampowered.com/drop/062320..._gamedlls.zip



Unzip this file into the cstrike/dlls directory.



The md5 sums of the updated game dlls are:
