the pic isn't that impressive, but the shear number of quick launch icons blows me away...I count at least 40
Also, the green box in the systray looks like a minimized system monitor icon, that is pegged to 100% or so CPU usage.

Is this a game play pic or a Hammer pic? Is the cpu pegged cause of the game? or running a rendering program? curious...

the only thing that needs to be changed with the models are add more polygons so they look better. other than that I dont want the deagle looking gay as fuck like it does in CS:CZ. It just looks like a white block. sucks

just being green doesnt mean its the system tray. my guess is that it isnt. either way, its impossible to tell from that picture. all you really kno is that its green.

Well if you look at the taskbar he has like 14 or 15 windows including the game. I would't doubt thats the task manager icon with 100% cpu activity.

The green icon is our distributed compiling utility.

Well, that may be cliffe's most pointless response ever. :) I mean, seriously here guys, you're discussing the icons on a digicam pic of a computer screen. Wow. :)

Anyway, I'm not too concerned about the default models aspect of it. I just would love to know for sure if all replacement models have to be in the Softimage|XSI format or what...

I'm really hoping it's a good format, though, 'cause I'm particularly looking forward to normal maps on weapon models, along with (of course) 32-bit textures. :)

That's why I said 'Look's Like', Not 'IS'. Steve_81 validated my curiousity, with all that stuff running, it may have been a system monitor. I know I run it minimized when I have a crapload of stuff running.

Cliffe, back to my secodn question, was that screen shot actual game play, or were we seeing something in development environment? It is windowed, that is why I ask...I know you can run HL:CS windowed, but, just curious...

why did any1 from valve even let a guy use a camera in the building? could be a security risk ya know. not to mention releasing screenies like this.

It's not the first time they've allowed it, and likely won't be the last. Their PR approach, for better or for worse, seems to be letting the fans spread the word, whether through visits like this on the small scale, or in the more grand scheme of things, sites like our very own CS-Nation.

The approach is different from most other companies, and can be frustrating at times, but hey, maybe the fact that they don't just come right out and give you the 411 on their main webpage keeps everyone talking about them that much more. Really, even if it's negative comments at times, overall the "no press is bad press" viewpoint probably still holds true.

Either that, or in all likelihood I just read too much into things. :)

reading can never be a negative thing.

i dont suppose valve wouldve let the guy with the camera take 100s of screenies of the game. but a carefully controlled (ie blurred, with a flash) screenie could be released with little to no harm.

but those steam servers look like a mess.
