    The_Family_God Interview

Machinimag, an online magazine geared toward the machinima crowd, has spoken with Daniel Frome, better known as The_Family_God, head of Gworx Pictures and producer of the popular Militia 2. Within this interview contains information regarding future projects, such as the last Counter-Strike machinima film entitled Clan Wars, Mr. Frome's background with machinima, views towards the future for the field, and much more.
What is the next big thing in machinima we're going to see? What's the next step?

I don't think you're going to see one particular Big Step. The community is similar to the independent film community, where small changes come bit by bit, and slowly things change. Every machinima maker is trying to create their own big thing for their own purposes, so eventually that benefits the community as a whole.
Those interested, regardless of their experience with machinima, may go ahead and read up on this excellent interview, and do not make the mistake of overlooking Gworx Pictures and upcoming projects.

If you just can't get enough of the Militia series, ClanWars, or any other Daniel Frome piece, you'll be glad to know that he has been interviewed by the E-Sports Entertainment Association.
Let's go to the beginning of the family god story as far as most people are concerned: militia. How did the movie come into being, what were your aims and how do you feel you met them in the final piece?

the_family_god: Militia (part 1) was purely a private experiment that ended up going on csnation.net to give people a little speck of entertainment. There really were no goals involved but the film received a much bigger/better reception than anticipated. Afterwards I learned that other people had made these type of films before and there was even a film festival that specialized in these films — hence came Militia2.
To read the rest, point your cute little cursor over this way.

Good interview, some nice questions. But that site (machinimag) is just...unbrowsable. After a while you get the hang of it, but still...it's so overdone.

As much as I admire TFG's work... I have to say this:

                  Hooray for PR.

The funniest bit of the "Clanwars" video is the part where Camper Joe ends up in 2fort and Gooseman is laughing.

I have no idea why I posted that here.

I would have to say that TFG was excellent in all the movies thus far... I still believe that "Clanwars" is my favorite of all and it was so unique and is worth seeing again and again... Cookies for TFG!!

Is it possible that there will be another Clanwars (like Clanwars 2)?

TFG is a great person. He should get some more appretiation for what he does. He's a great composer with his music. I talked to him during the creation of Clanwars and I saw the screenshots on Ampednews behind the scences. It's pretty amazing what CS can be made into. I hope that rendering tool comes out someday!

Really? I feel like he gets too much appreciation to be honest. These aren't even interesting films, aside from the fact that we are all obsessed with Counter-Strike! The dialogue is horrible, the voice acting is horrible (even the best of it isn't that great) and the plot is horrible in every TFG movie I've seen. It's cool that he manages to make movies in CS, but it's not such an extraordinarily praiseworthy accomplishment. I think it's funny that most CS players probably don't know Pulitzer Prize-winning authors, yet laud this guy with praise!

I didnt think a better movie would come out after Milita 2, pandaoras box was okay and now clanwars is awesome.
