Basically, they're updating CZ to make it a much more attractive buy, it's their way of trying to give the consumer some incentive to purchase a product. Unfortunately, I think it would've been a LOT better if they came out with all this stuff off the bat, but oh well, at least now I feel like I'm getting my $35 worth for CZ.

$35 spent playing a game for several hours and warming up for scrims and matches is a lot better than wasting $35 on liquor in one hour.

Go back and think... how much did you spend on that copy of Half-Life? I spent $20. And then I got Counter-Strike for free. Day of Defeat for free. Natural Selection for free. Firearms. The Specialists. I think I got a lot out of that $20 I spent on HL. And now I'm starting to see that I'm getting something off of CZ. It's something to be entertained by until HL2.

And CZ is single player CS. Something you can't get for free. Or $12.95.

Why would I pay full price a game (that's got worse than sub-par reviews) running on an outdated engine for a few extras that should have been added into CS about 20 updates ago? No thanks. It's not so much to ask that hostages don't act like damned tree trunks until someone else comes along. I could care less about other textures or some new skins. Those you can pretty much get anywhere. And if I wanted single player CS, I'd play Counter-Life.
"Is it really so much to ask that hostages don't act..." yes, it is. That's the same as saying "Is it really so much to ask that I get completely new graphics, physics and gameplay options" if you think about it. You have what you have in CS, and should be happy to get any upgrades at all.

Your a CSN Team member, go out and buy CZ for 20 bucks, it's not that big of a deal, and it supports VALVe and you will be getting these new features out of it.

Simply because I'm CSN "Staff" doesn't mean I have to bow to Valve and hand them my hard earned cash for a few minor updates that should have ALREADY BEEN in CS to begin with.

There have been countless complaints about how people would like the hostages to do more than simply stand there. Hell, they can't even duck or climb up and down ladders! That alone was a complaint for a long time, one that shouldn't have to be fixed by buying an entirely seperate game. There's no conceivable reason to buy CZ in my opinion if the only thing it has going for it are new models/textures. Like I said, if I want single player CS, I'll go with Counter-Life. That at least has a solid storyline.

They've spent how much time now on CZ and they didn't have the forethought to implement any of this already? This is a marketing ploy. Granted it'll grab a few more people, but when a majority of your demographics still plays normal CS, it'd probably be wise to deal with their concerns as well. There are some 50 bugs that need dealt with and it'd be quite interesting to see if more than one is recitifed in upcoming updates. CZ was a failure and they realize this, so they're trying to polish it up well after the fact by adding such small but useful things as moving hostages simply to try and convert current CS players into CZ players.

Valve will get enough of my money with HL2, CS: Source, and TFC: Source. They don't need more for a repackaged CS.

Adding all these updates isn't instant, it takes time and work to implement. They are selling that work as a new game. Buy it or don't, that's up to you, just don't expect them to give it to you for free in basic CS. It's updated for a reason, and, honestly, $30 isn't much for new models / maps, and these constant updates such as this one.

What if VALVe delibretly held back some CZ funktions and decided to FLASH the masses with cool-updates so everyone halo-effects to thinking this is what the futurue will look like. Not updating the CS1.6 hostages is just wrong.

are all these updates going to make me buy CZ?

erm....not until it becomes better than cs..

Still don't see a reason to buy CZ. Basically, from what I've played of it, It's a ridiculously easy single player (but that was expected I guess), different models/textures, and new maps. The CZ models/textures and maps are already useable in CS, so why pay for smarter hostages? If I went to Best Buy and saw a game, with the description "Exactly like CS, just looks a little different and hostages are smarter!", I sure as hell wouldn't drop $5 for it, let alone.. what is it, $30?

I'm sure people will say "then don't buy it", I'm just curious why you WOULD buy it, maybe you can help me out.
                      i second that.

remember when they had the bots in cs 1.4 steam beta? i think the valve team realised, "shit, why are we including bots in regular free CS idiots! we should put them with CZ to make it sell better".

                      cheeky valve business tactics

i thought CZ and CS should be made multiplayer compatible...

at least that was said when CZ was announced long time ago.

Heh what a split in the community,

Personally my opinion is PAY FOR CZ. $35 is nothing and Valve have already given you more than most of you realise.

We have been getting patches for CS for years for free. How can you possibly say that _anything_at_all_ should have been added to CS for free in the last few patches?

I work for a games developer, it costs us approx $1.5M a month to keep the various studios and teams going. Any even tiny change to a games production is costed up and paid for by the publisher. You have had Valves dedication to HL/CS for YEARS now. This is almost unheard of in games dev.

If you go out and buy a GFX card do you expect to get the new model for free when it comes out? Do you think you're gonna get Doom3 for free because you bought Doom2?

Now have some bloody respect and pay them the tiny amount of money they ask for CZ.

Peagle you little bitch. Stop sticking up for Valve and CZ. Even with these updates CZ is still a waste of time and money. CZ multiplayer is still going to be the same as CS 1.6 just with new maps, new skins (which can both be easily moved over to CS 1.6 anyway) and new hostage AI.

Valve should of added all of this to CZ in the 1st place, why did they 1st release it so it was exactly the same as 1.6 and then add all the updates later, what was the point? They should of had all this stuff when CZ was 1st released then more people might be playing it.

I am not going to pay for new skins and maps which I can download for free. Deleted Scenes is regarded as a mediocre single player game and the turtle rock's single player is just like playing with bots with a few rediculous objectives such as "Kill 1 bot with a Deagle". I don't think it's a good idea to start saying "Oh, nice one Valve, I think i'll buy CZ now" because all these new additions in these CZ updates should of been there in the 1st place.

Exactly how long does that list have to be before you shut up? CS and its extended family are all mods of HL. At what point does Valve have to stop spending money further modding CZ until you open your dusty little man purse to give them some return?

I don't understand what you mean by that. So however good Valve makes CZ, you won't buy it because it wasn't that good to begin with? Huh?
