i hope machinima becomes more popular after the hl2 engine port. the limitations would be few and far between. good movie, btw

just watched it.
well done dan frome for really interesting directing and camera angles, although with a bit more time you couldve edited it a lot better. youre definitely improving! excellent closeups and slow motion shots, but the movie would really stand out from the crowd if it had more of them. the player models are detailed enough for extreme tight shots. and would definitely make the characters jump out at you from the screen. something worth considering perhaps?
adding some bullet models would defintely add a lot too. yes i know theyre not in the game, but perhaps a rapid moving model through the map? -for example. and you gotta find a way to get smooth panning and zooming from those demos. jerky and none synced with frames movement really detracts from the realism and unfortunately youre reminded that its still a demo from CS
i heard that you were looking for some camera movement scripters a while back. perhaps you should hire someone else hehe :)
not sure if youre a fan of using motion control during the making of such a machinima film. with predefined scripts it would make it very simple to do. but maybe you prefer to not blend sequences but rather have a PURE movie :0
good story, good pace, amazing race car sequence, but youre gonna have to explain about the mysterious gun. maybe its a deliberate cliffhanger ?
i LOVED the way that shielder was owned by that nade and flew in front of the moon. truly inspired.Comment

I must be one of 5 people that have not seen the Militia movies. this was the 1st CS movie i have downloaded/watched and i was entertained by it and wanted to play CS after watching it. the car chase was pretty cool too...the l337 dude should have whipped out Dualies and gone out with style. i also noticed most of the guards were completely immobile and just waiting around to get killed.Comment

As far as all of the comparisons to Militia II, I personally thought the screenplay and the acting for that movie were both a steaming pile of ferret poop. The outstanding production and soundtrack are what made the thing fun to watch.
I'd really like to know why it's so hard to find people who are decent voice actors to play in these little vids and why the directors can release something so ridiculously bad with a straight face. It's like all they are focused on are the visual aspects of the film.
I can't fathom Pandoras Box II being that much worse than Militia II. If it is I may have a seizure and die and never be heard from again. Oh well, at least I can get a will out of the explosions before I go.Comment

While interesting, this was pretty far from good. The voice acting was pretty bad (accents changed a lot for the same characters, would have been better if they stuck with a single distinct overdone cheesy accent for each), and why wasn't this recorded with anti-aliasing on? The maps and camera work were pretty good, and the whole thing seemed fairly well planned. However, the bland and largely unexplained story left it feeling lacking overall. Also, the writing was just average. Not absolutely terrible, but the few jokes that were present fell flat, and there was nothing in the way of memorable lines. By far the best segment was the battle at the end.
And hopefully the Source engine will result in much better machinima. Real physics (think Rube Goldberg), higher-quality tools, and less engine limitations should result in some very interesting and much more complex projects. I'd really love it if HL2 had better demo recording and exporting tools. For example, the ability to write a script to go along with a demo that includes slow/fast motion, and importing of camera paths. Also, a way to write a .dem file to uncompressed AVI at 24/25/30FPS, rather than a sequence of bithmaps, from the game console (demowrite output.avi demosettings.script). Maybe a simple director function could be released along with the SDKs?Comment

I asked Gabe a while back about HL2 machinima... he said there's lots of stuff already in place, and it should be easy to add more.
It's already been reported in other places that recording to video files will be a lot easier than HL1. I assume the same will go for sound.Comment

that sorta sucked, it was barely interesting at all. the first one wasn't all that great, nice try though, just need a better story line or at least some funny and memorable lines (like people have said). militia 2 was at least a little bit cool (militia 1 was the best though) and has that one line where the redneck is being obliterated by the helicopter, haha that was greatComment

Okay, I attempted to watch it... What a nice waste of bandwidth and time. Visually it was horrible, acting was horrible (changing accents, etc.), script was incoherent.
You dont have to spend a million dollars to make something creative. If something is posted publicly then I have high expectations for it. It's not like I dug this out of my little brothers hard drive. These guys made this film with the intent on releasing it to the public (however small an audience our community may be). They could have done so much better in every aspect of the movie. Whats the point of creating something if you arent going to take the time to make it worth watching. It's like they just fumbled through it so they could tell their mommy and friends how cool they are because they made a counter-strike movie.
RAWR ! *Evil movie critic hat off*
It wasn't the worse cs movie thingy I've seen.. and the soundtrack was VERY good. Do better next time guys.
