I put my problem in, and it sent me an email telling me to delete masterserver.vdf files, all my config files, clientregistry.blob files etc. which is utter bs because what do those have to do with the reload animations showing when they're not supposed to in CS?
Sounds like the generic "try the stuff that helps 90% of people" initial response. I don't have experience with VALVe on this yet, but most tech support companies have a generic list of solutions that they send out before spending serious effort resolving the problem.

And for reference, not sure if it's the same thing you're talking about, but recently I've had the problem of full weapons reloading when pulled out again on rare occasion. I wanna say it happened with the deagle and possibly the mp5, though I doubt it's gun-specific. Really rare, though, and only got me killed once.

And yes, I've been playing this game for long enough to know when my gun did finish reloading prior. Once it even happened on initial purchase of a gun, which was odd. When I play Natural Selection, though, playing the reload animation happens all the time when filling up a gun. Who knows, maybe it's CS-related, maybe it's HL-related, not really sure.

i know that happens to me if i experience a prolonged amount of packet loss or if my latency shoots up because of packet queues. then really strange things happen. usually i get 1-2 % packet loss during a normal day. this is sadly ISP related with me. when this happens i can suddenly die for no reason, then when the data is streaming fine i realise it was actually a shot from somewhere, but i did not see it because the data never reached me, and the server just sent my client a "ok youve been shot, die now" command, so thats all i saw. not even a "argh ive been killed" sound. weapon reloading seems to suffer too, but as long as you have sent the "reload" command to the server, the server will acknowlegde you have reloaded within a predefined time, and send you back the "you may now shoot" command. but the animations are independant of the server yes. guess thats what happened to you.

That kind of thing happened to me constantly on my 56k modem, but my cable is typically very reliable. The times it did happen to me were after drawing my weapon, though, and thus I should have been able to shoot, interupting the reload animation. Typically my movement or other players' movements will mess up if there's loss involved, and this hasn't happened for me thus far like it did when I was getting bad loss.

So yeah, I'm not saying it's impossible that loss was responsible, but it seems rather unlikely, considering my past experiences with it.
