Instead of compromising on what the two different groups of players (Pro/OldSchool vs Casual Pub'ers) want, why not just introduce a 'Pro mode' CS...
Sit down with people like the CPL, CAL-I and other serious leagues, as well as the Managers of the top clans and hammer out how they think CS needs to be changed at the Pro level of play, and create an official 'Pro Mode' CS.
Of course individual server admins should still be able to choose which one of the modes to run on their server.
As a side note - im no hardcore player, im more of a pub'er but I have played CS since the early days too.

No need for AK, Colt, MP5 & Awp price increases...I find it hard enuff 2 buy em on public when your team is a bunch of newbs, leaving you with no money.

PS: Everyone bitches at all changes at CS. It is inevitable, yet annoying, turn of events when the people who CREATED Counter-Strike want to make changes which will make the game better in their view.
PPS: You ingrates should be grateful that Cliffe is giving you a chance to voice your opinion BEFORE these changes are made. In other words, these prices are NOT set in stone by any stretch of the imagination. And if history is any indication, there will be enough combined bitching between CS-Nation and Gotfrag users to most likely come to some sort of agreement between the players and the creators. I find these are interesting changes. Not really sure why the para dropped in price since most people use rifles for suppressive fire for some VERY ODD reason (sometimes desert eagles [???]). I guess most people want to hit someone while covering a person who's completing an objective. For the most part, I really have nothing against these changes, and am very thankful for Cliffe in allowing us to have a say, rather than jumping the gun.
(Now if only I can understand the hitbox/damage system, I can stop missing/causing 5% damage before being annihilated by low-budget terrorists.)Comment

I'm not one to bitch at the subject here, but I personally think that the CS team should try and improve the effectiveness and versitality of these underused weapons before trying to change the prices of the popular ones, so that they might end up in equal standing as per player usage.Comment

overall i like the idea. CS is a constantly changing game, some people like the well known, but its always fun (and sometimes necessary) to spruce things up a bit. As it stands now, the SMG's are basically pointless. Put an ak against a mp5 and the ak *will* win. Yes i know some of you are "uber l33t ninja hackers with the mp5 > all rifles" but equally skilled, the ak will win. This will bring a new part to the game...smg skillz..
Yes raise the price of the awp...the awp IS a poweful gun, and if you want to risk that much money on one shot that may miss and then you die, then its your choise.
I also agree with the new colt/ak upgrades. The ak SHOULD cost less than the colt, IMO it is one step below the colt. But at the same time BOTH should have thier prices raised. Good call cliffe.
