Yeah, a lot of us would like to see cs_docks come back into popularity, I think.

Honestly, as_oilrig is my all-time favorite map, but yes... most people don't seem to have a clue how to play as_ maps, so it all too often gets absolutely dominated by 3 players, and you find yourself wondering why the VIP thinks he has to run lead into the AK and AWP fire.

As far as cs_siege, it lost a lot of its appeal for me (in 1.1?) when they took the APC out. The APC made that map a world of fun, despite the accidental TK's your driving-impaired teammates would sometimes perform. After that, it was largely just an AWP fest, and that got old pretty fast. Then again... de_aztec can be like that at times.

What I miss most of all, though, is the assassination server I used to play on. Sure, it had your standard oilrig, tundra, and highrise, but there were also a bunch of custom as_ maps (like iraq, forest, convoy, riverside, etc...) that was just a refreshing change from the servers running a mix of the occasional cs_ map with a large majority of de_ maps. Hell, it'd be fun to play an es_ map every now and then, though I'll admit it wasn't the greatest gameplay mode invented.

Doesn't VUGAMING host the Chipmunk Ninja's site? If so, good game to CSMaps cause I stopped going to CMN's site long ago due to constant downtime and slow service.
CMN's site was down for a while for many reasons. Not really hardware related.

Of course you could say that..but you can't force me to believe that. Back when I visited, the site loaded slow and the downloads were coming in at horrible speeds. (which is why I put up all their movies)

OK, well this is kind-of off-topic. If you have any questions or comments you can email me directly at nathand@vugaming.com. I'm sorry you feel that our web-hosting service isn't up to par.

I agree, I will e-mail. It's the proper thing to do.

Yeah, that CS-map.org site is DOG slow. It is 3:17 pm my time right now. I suspect high traffic. It took 1 min, 20 seconds for a DE_maps list to appear. And I am coming off a T3 connection.

I am glad that map sites are starting to step up more for the community. I personally got tired of finding sites with broken map links. That is why I started CyberGameZone.com 2 yrs ago. Now I have 1000+ members and 450000+ montly hits with over 700 maps available for download. The site used to be called DOA's Realm and it comes up alot in the top 10 at google.com for map searches.

I am not trying to advertise my site, but would like to work with other mapping sites and to offer more. Thanks.

someone made a nice remake of that (noth1ng's brother actually, i think) where they did all the textures over and completely redid the cliffs. its called cs_docks_v1, but ive only seen it at a server once, back in 1.5

Man... it's been over 3 years since n0th1ng's death... weird how fast time passes by. So his brother was a mapper as well? Didn't know that, if that's the case...

es maps... Nighthawk, what was that map where the T's run along a cliff, break into a church, and there's an AK sitting on the altar?

There's a cure for the cs_siege thing. Type room_type 0 to turn off echos. You can even do this while actually playing the map, it works the same as stopsound. If you walk into a room with echos again, it'll turn back on.

I've got stopsound and room_type 0 in my buy scripts, and with the same key I bound to autobuy.

Haha, yeah, I've got a general "clear away the junk" bind that does a stopsound, room_type 0, and of course a slot10 to clear any menus I might still have up (mainly just radio menus now that the buy scripting is so nice).

Annyway, I tried finding some more custom map servers today -- couldn't find any as_ maps aside from mainly oilrig, a few tundras, and a handful of crazytanks. I'm going to keep on searching, though...
