Valve gives a shit, who are you kidding? They would dearly love your money. However, there are probably intrinsic problems supporting a UK only debit card as part of steams global payment system at this time. You fall into the 0.0001% who are not catered for by the preload offer. I'm sure you will still be able to purchase it hassle free through amazon or through as yet unavailable steam payment methods.
So Valve doesnt give a stuff about the UK?
Its simple really then, I can get UT2k4 for £17 or I can get this, I was going to get this but seeing as Valve doesnt give a shit Ill get ut2k4

Yes there is, whatcha smoking? There is a button that says "pause pre-load" or similar.
Yet when you right click on CZ... there are no properties to set to disable preloading the cache. :) Made me laugh, anyway, as it's so typical to how we've gotten used to steam being (that is, rather quirky and dysfunctional, but still kind of cool).Comment

Mine did the same thing as others, basically jumped to (or started at) 72%, then went from there. It had trouble connecting last night, but now it's up to 77% and going along nicely. But as for the apparent 72% starting point, how funny would it be if that was just copying files from regular CS? Could CZ really only be 28% new material?Comment

look mate, valve does give a crap about the uk market...they just dont need to throw in switch and solo support to capture it since the overwhelming majority of people havea visa or mastercard.
do you see?
and i dont have a credit card either - credit cards are for poor people who try to live like rich people.
i do think there should be amex support though as i have a gold AMEX. :) (and no amex isnt a credit card, its a charge card - yes theres a difference).
Visa
Mastercard
AMEX/Diners Club
that should cover just about everyone except studnts who should be studying and not playing games anyway hehe :)Comment

I'm just curious about CS:CZ.... who's going to buy it? I guess only the people that haven't played CS before... otherwise I would just wait to get Half-Life2 because it uses the new engine, and everything is much better.. graphics and etc.... CS:CZ is almost like CS. just a little better graphic, however, same old, 6 years, engine.
Sigh.............Comment

I would guess your guess is very wrong. I am going to buy it with full knowledge of:

1) Half Life 2 is not counterstrike. Whatever HL2 will be its not CS, nor will it's multiplayer component be like CS. I will buy HL2, but its not a replacement, its a different frikkin' game. Why people keep tossing out HL2 as a reason not to buy CZ is beyond me. You might as well tell me your waiting to buy the new Ferrari instead of replacing your lawnmower. Different frikkin' paradigms.
2) I want to play the new maps, toy with the bots, the single player mode and whatever else Valve may have in store for CZ owners.
3) If anything, I am supporting valve with $30 for endless free updates over the last bunch of years. I support their product CS because I enjoy it, alot, and I want to support HL2 and what I hope will be CS2 in the future because I believe they will be great games.Comment

Nicely put, peagle. Hear hear.
Right now I'm trying to pre-load CZ, but it has stopped at 78% and it keeps resetting my properties to "do not automatically update this game." I keep setting it to auto-update, then it works for a couple of minutes, then stops and shows 0% pre-loaded, resetting itself to not automatically update. Then I put it back to auto-update, and it shows 78% again and downloads for a few minutes, ad nauseum. Anybody else experiencing anything like this? Oh well. I've got a couple of weeks to get the rest of it.Comment

Yah it just pauses but then just wait a few min and it starts back up again and continues at where it stopped there are just too many people downloading it so there bandwidth is a bit shakey.
