Update: There is a LOT of problems with this update. www.SteamPowered.com is down and many people cannot get in Steam. We will update this post when more information becomes available. My suggestion to everyone is to stop trying to get on Steam. This is what the problem is. People keep trying and it just makes the situation worse. Wait a couple of hours and then try. But for now, go watch TV or surf the net. Let Steam cool down a bit.
Erik Johnson has posted a message saying that the long awaited Steam update has been released. This release contains a couple additions such as the game purchasing system that is implemented into Steam. Also, there are some bug fixes included in this update. The maintenance to the Steam system is now complete.
When you start your Steam client you be automatically be updated to the latest version, which includes these major changes:There are a number of bug fixes in Steam included as well. The Half-Life 2 survey will be updated throughout the day with the results tallied here. Thank you for your patience during the downtime.
