    condition zero: first impressions

CS-Nation recently got a copy of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. Instead of writing up yet another in-depth hands-on preview I decided to whip up a smaller article with my overall impressions of the game:
Another downside is they will often choose a shield. The problem isn't that they aren't good with the shield, it's that it's basically useless. They will run around with it and the other bots won't shoot at the shield user until he exposes himself. Thus you get stare-downs that last until someone finally gives in. This happens to always be the shield user, and he always loses. They really shouldn't buy shields.
So after all this time is it finally worth buying? Read to find out!

Once you finish reading the article, have a look at our newly updated CZ screenshot archive. If you missed all the fuss up to this point, our About CZ page contains everything you could possibly want to know regarding everyone's favorite single-player Counter-Strike game.

IMHO, I think this game may not be as popular as the original CS, but I bet there will be some consumers buying it (including myself, but not immediately.)

CS with bots was entertaining, plus Ritual's missions were kinda blah (I played a warezed CS:CZ. I know, shame on me.).

And if you just wanna complain like "I COULD SAVE MONEY BY JUST USING PODBOTS IN 1.6", then go do so. I could care less if you're gonna buy CS:CZ or not. surely Valve doesn't care, either.

yeah tonic your real smart, valve WANT less people to buy the game, thats why they wouldnt care right, then they will get overwhelming amounts of money from picking them off trees right

          "Pheonix" is spelled wrongly (Phoenix).

IMO i think that the new CS:CZ can hit the market pretty well. I'm from sweden myself and there is more stores here that have CS:CZ pre-booked than there is for games like "World of warcraft". (But HL2 is nr 1 overall)

I played the Ritual verision of CS:CZ (shame on me) and i thought that it was totally allright for being a Single Player game but not as a Counter-strike game. So i think that the new Turtle Rock verision will be more of a counter-strike experience that the old ritual.

Reminds me of the PODbot standoffs when one of the bots would be higher then another with a slope between them, like a bot at CT spawn on dust and one at the arch, and they would keep shooting at each other but the bullets would go into the slope. They would stay like this until the time ran out.

will the new cz maps be moved over to 1.6 when cz is released or will they be seperate for cz users only ?

I'll probably buy it, but damn those old player models are ugly! Looks like they're made out of 3 ploygons each! How much effort would it have taken to whip up some nicer ones? Or at least reskin them?
