    CS:CZ Hands-On

Planet Half-Life has posted a Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Hands-On article where Kevin "Fragmaster" Bowen takes a look at the yet to be released title. Here's the end of the article:
While Counter-Strike: Condition Zero doesn't exactly live up to its original concept and at this point seems dreadfully dated when compared to the immediate competition, it's easy to recommend to the Counter-Strike fanatic who can't get enough CS, CS newbies, and/or people with poor connections who want to play a good game of CS offline. If you don't like Counter-Strike to begin with, CS:CZ certainly won't change your mind, and if you're happy just playing CS 1.6 online, you may find it hard to justify shelling out $40 for a handful of slightly different maps.
Check it out. I've played CS:CZ quite a bit over the last week and I have to agree with Fragmaster for the most part.

Fragmaster came out of the closet to say:

To get to the other side of the room, you must use a blowtorch on a locked door, then use a bomb on a sewer grate, then crawl into the sewers to retrieve a gun that's underwater, which doesn't make sense, since you don't even need the gun. Once you get the gun, this triggers a script that opens a door so you can leave. Huh?

        Sweet merciful crap.

Can they really squeeze any more money out of suckers on this shitty, outdated turd of a game? This shit is so ANCIENT and looks like HELL.

After two years of promising that it's 'just around the corner', does anyone really believe shit that Valve says anymore?

The way I see it, it being stolen so many times just means people been asking for it to be delayed. I also see it as the game constantly getting better cuz of people cheating. Also, plz don't flame.

There are no new weapons in CS: CZ, but there are new weapon models and some new types of equipment, including a digital camera, walkie-talkie, blowtorch, remote controlled bombs, and a fiber optic camera, which you can use to peek through doors and such. None of this new equipment really adds too much to the gameplay, however. I think you only use the digital camera once in the entire game, for instance. You can only use this equipment in certain designated zones.
Interesting that the M60 and LAW are apparently not even in the deleted scenes section. Even though there is a screenshot of the M60 in that article...

perhaps valve should cut it's losses and release it as a free addon.

the thing that im the most disappointed about is the price of the game... on magazine i read quoted it at 49.99 .. .. but even 39.99 would be a ripoff considering how old the technology is.

how much was dod when it was released as retail? like 29.99 right? i think that would be an acceptable price point for cs:cz

btw, every review ive read so far pretty much bashes cz to no end.. sad really, after all these years of waiting. what a waste

did you even read the Hands-On review. let alone the small news post properly? its politely saying cs:cz is piece of CR@P and is only needed if you dont wanna download the bots already out for free, or dont have an internet connection (how much people who would really wanna buy cz would not have the internet?) but if ya wanna waste 40 bucks then fine with me, with the quality of the game this is valves target market anyway ... money wasters

I read the gamepro review, it's pretty much the same as this one, totally destroying cz saying it's just an over priced addon with very few features.
