Well, I guess you forget the crusades and pretty much the entire middle ages.
There's a difference between Christianity and what people do in the name of Christianity. You can't blame a religion for the crimes some misguided followers may commit.

Typical... as if CAL levels are the end-all to all of CS. This kind of silly elitist attitude that pervades CS players who play in leagues is hilarious. It's as if this even matters at all. Some people take their CSing too seriously, and even go so far as to put down other players or even come to respect other players due to their CAL level.

It's ridiculous. Whatever happened to just coming on and playing a damned online game?

infidels.org may not be 100% accurate. but its pretty close to the truth.

christians are funny though. how many of you go to church on sunday or watch those "preachers" on tv?
*raises hand* - not the tv preachers though

Frankly, it's nowhere near accurate. It's just like any other propoganda designed to make someone believe that something else is wrong by quoting out of context, misinterpereting, etc... to make their point. If you search the net you'll find plenty of web resources telling you how the King James version is the one and only true Bible, when it's actually one of the worst translations in existence.

BTW - your *amusing* comments about Christians applies to any faith. There are plenty of people from ALL faiths that say, "I'm such and such a faith", and never set foot into their religious house of their choosing, or even follow the basic tenants of said faith. You want funny, watch Jews - 632 laws that spell out exactly what they are/are not supposed to do, but how many REALLY follow them?

This is directed in general, not just at you Pharlap. I'd ask everyone to use more than the internet for a resource. Most religious web pages are very poorly written, poorly researched, and most are written by fanatics who've done less studying of most faiths than the average atheist. Read reference books that have been written by people who actually know the history and the facts - college texts are great for this. I can direct you to some good resources online so you can quote legitimate fact, not some nutcase's opinion. Most religious sites are just propaganda for someone's opinion based on a misunderstood passage or mistranslated word.

None of these sites are close to the truth, and neither is anyone who thinks they have the corner on the wisdom of all faiths. Anyone who believes that they know the whole truth is a fool. infidels.org is a well-written joke, just like any other site that seeks to disprove another faith. It's not accurate - it's just written to look that way.

1+1+1=2 is "pretty" close to the truth.... yet not the truth. Personally, I'm not interested in camping out "with close to the truth"... I didn't become a Christian until I was 25. Jesus revealed Himself to me through some extremely intelligent, compassionate people. Prior to age 25, I camped out in the atheist/ agnostic camp... not knowing Jesus, not caring for Christians. So these negative comments don't surprise or effect me... been there, done that, bought the t-shirt...
close to the truth being within +/-10% to the truth. anything within about 10% is very close in my experience.

and im not camping or stating that im a die hard atheist. im not. i dont follow one thing blindly, i try to follow all things equally. and to decide for myself and find out about all religions rather than following one and dismissing others. which is why im acting all defensive. i dislike the fact so many follow 1 faith blindly (or "enlightened" as the case may be).

          "Jesus revealed Himself to me"

          im sorry but erm what?

Pharlap, I'm not trying to hound you, that's not what I'm trying to do. I'm simply wanting to make sure you have properly thought out your beliefs rather than spew out rhetoric in defense of something you've been taught by the environment you matured in. Make sense?

The concept of universalism or religious relativism, to be honest, frustrates me. I don't see how you can truly follow any religion while holding another one in your back pocket. Aside from the cauldron of universalism, I can't think of a religion that doesn't say the rest, or most of the rest, are wrong. That being so, it would be like being a citizen of the US, Cuba, Libya, and France and trying to fight for the interests of each country without infringing on the others.

*sigh* I'd still be interested in talking with you further about this and to bounce some things off your world-view. Of course, you don't have to. I'd understand your trepidation.

ive pondered and talked about religion too long. its something that can be debated for eternity, and still people will be divided. its just one of those endless topics. theres a time and place for everything. i dont thinnk discussing this on this site is appropriate.

No, sir, I am not. The last time I checked, the "Lord" looked down and provided me with a wife and 2 children. I don't think this clan really want's to get past Cal-O, no need to swear, you can jump off a cliff but it will be your own loss. I won't diginify you last sentence with a response.

You truly have a issue that needs to be dealt with. I asked a simple question, that's all. Do you always respond with this kind of anger and hostility? If so, your only hurting yourself. I assure you, those words have no effect on my life. Have a good day. :)

Sorry, that must seem odd... however, I can't think of another way to put it. I wasn't raised in a Christian home or environment... my gramma had "beliefs" of sorts, but her telling me about them scared the bejeepers outta me.

My choice to follow Christ came when I was an adult... I had a nice house, spouse, child, good job... its probably the "least" blind choice I've ever made... and I was far from enlightened... stubborn is a better word. I had more questions than most people I've since seen come to Christ. But God has answers... He likes questions as long as there is an honest desire for real answers. Its cool really...

My comment came more from my experience... I am a Christian, meaning... I have a relationship with Christ. Its not about how much money I give to the church, or where I go on Sunday. Its about Jesus and me. He's real and alive... He loves us very much. So ya... Hope that helps.... -Brooklyn

god, by definition, cannot converse with mortals. so u cant really ask him questions.

That is practically Christianity. We pray to God constantly asking, thanking, and worshipping him.

yah uh historian, i do not take it lightly if you call one of my friends a fag, i personally think that you are a noob, i do not care what you say back, i do not care if you never answer back but incase you don't know, being gay is a sin, don't make conclusions if you don't even know the person, and i am almost 100% sure you don't, AIDS does not always come from men, it comes from women too, and it is nothing to be taken lightly, so get your facts straight before you come and post some rediculous non-sense like that

god, being omnipotent, does not need your prayers. god being omnipotent also "knows" whether or not you beleive in "his" existense without your praying.

so all the "head-banging-against-floor" you do, isnt really necessary.

God is omnipotent, so he knows all. You are right. But he did say "knock and the door shall me opened to you, ask and he shall receive". We need to have a relationship with God. It can't be God controlling our lives completely. We need to communicate to HIM as well.

Look who's a fag now. You're just bashing yourself. Would you have sex with a prostitute that has AIDS? For you...of course cuz she's hot with breast of double Ds. And no one cares about your loss if you're gonna act like a fag. I'm not responsible for it. Or anyone in this community.

Since this bashing keeps going on, this is still a laughing matter of you morons embarrassing yourselves. Not the [cTs] clan.
