I never said NASCAR or F1 isn't physical, I was drawing parallels. As a side note, in China, gaming is the 99th OFFICIAL sport of the country by I believe the Chinese Olympic Committee or something. Just some more food for thoughtComment

there's a big difference in athletics and sports. lots of things that aren't athletic, such as CS or chess, are sports. all althetics are sports, but not all sports are athletic. as such, gaming is NOT an athletic activity, thus no gamers can call themselves athletes.Comment

Ok wow how can playing a computer game be considered a sport? I play football at my highschool and start as a d-tackle. If you took all these little pussy cyber athletes just thriugh conditioning theyd probably have a heart attack. Some of these guys may not be fat but there probably in horrible shape considerin all they do is wakeup,take morning piss,eat,playcs(while eating more),go take shit, play more cs, eat, play cs, eat even more, goto bed, wakeup, do everything all over again. And the dictionary review i read lol!!!! Doing anything then is considered a sport and youre considered an athlete. (btw we went 9-1)Comment

so, im not into this whole esports thing. can someone kindly explain to me why the top teams think CS:S "isnt fun to play competitively on" and how its "not ready for competitive play".
so why is it :
a. not fun
and
b. not ready for compeitive play
?

A. It's not fun because there are many little bugs and flaws that interfere with game play and make the game rather inconsistent. The movement feels very similar to that of Battlefield 1942 when it first came out (Any of you who played that, know the horrors I speak of) The game simply isn't fun in most experience players view. To the new players, who really haven't been used to Counter-strike and how everything moves and how the gameplay runs, they don't really notice anything, because this is an entirely new game. While many people will defend that with, well its a new game get used to change, many of us competitive Counter-strike players were told, we would be getting Counter-strike again, with a few visual upgrades, and that gameplay changes wouldn't be implemented till a later version of the game (I.E. Counter-strike 2)
B. The Game isn't ready for competitive play for the sole fact of the huge list of bugs and problems that still exist in the game and that VALVe has yet to acknowledge. I have yet to experience the game in a LAN environment, but online play is dreadful, for everything is so choppy, graphically and networkingly (new word, check it out). Occasionally you will see someone come out with a "new config that makes the game great and takes away all the bugs. However that config makes the game run at DX3 with NO visual candy, the online play feels even more choppy, and the frame rates are still a problem. I'm sorry, but I have a rather new end machine and I am ready for DX9. If a game is advertising the amazing features of DX9, but wants me to run it at DX7 for playability issues, the game shouldn't be advertised as a DX9 game.
Point being, source does have a long way to come if it is supposed to be "Counter-strike with visual upgrades" like we were told long ago.Comment
