on a side note ... I've watched both professional cs matches and also chess matches - and I must say that the CS matches were much more exciting for me.



Then again .. if I was making a million dollars a year playing chess ... i'd be pretty damn excited.

Gaming is not and should never be considered a sport. Its light relief and nothing more. I'm not sure on the whole NASCAR classification, however I have rallyed myself and it certainly does take a LOT of skill and concentration. I suppose it is given the name motorsport for a reason.

how about this, Pro Gamers should be called "Competitive Gamers" instead of "athletes" b/c gamers arent athletes. and games arent sports. it is CLOSE to a sport, but not a sport, b/c if ur, lets say Kobe Bryant (basketball), and you're in a restauraunt, ppl will go OMG UR KOBE BRYANT CAN I HAVE UR AUTOGRAPH??? but when ur known as "[1337]$@!#@#*LeetPWN" ppl will go, wow u play games for a living... thats nice (or not even give a damn about u). Games just should not be called a sport. They are however, fun and entertaining, but then, so are real sports. for some anyways.

If I'm not mistaken, in order for something to become a sport, it has to be official, said by someone or some group of importance (national organization, government, something). Just an educated guess. I hope someone comes along with some information on this to clear that up for me and the rest of you debating on this issue - whether or not you have to have official national recognition or something, to establish a sport. As far as the issue goes, for now I'm just going to call it what it is - professional gaming.
