Except their is still a load of WON servers about and Valve didn't make the update mandatory so admins have to specifically run the update tool.



Its obvious your not a server admin anyway you don't seem to give a toss about any server admins who were perhaps on holiday for the last 3 days?

Thats just hypothetical, and if you run ANY type of server on the internet you should be aware of the consequences. This exploit only can download files in the cstrike folder, not the whole harddrive. Do you store important files there? NO.



Your rcon/amx/adminmod passwords shouldnt be used for anything else but for administering the server. If you use the same password for your email account then you have no business running a server. I think all admins should change their passwords or use a STEAMID or WONID for auth, or assume that their passwords were already stolen.

It may be hypothetical but I also think you'll find its extremely likely that there are servers out there that have not been updated or had sv_allowdownload set to 0 for some reason. But you don't run those servers so why should you give a shit?



Who said anything about getting access to the box the server is running on?

According to the report, any large map can crash an unpatched server if the client asks for it. This includes custom maps. I've seen this happen before on a server that runs large fy_ maps, without someone typing it in manually.



You're all acting like I discovered the bug. It was already patched before I posted it here. It was released on wednesday and patched on thursday so whats the big deal?

They are trying to protect the morons, the lazy, and the clueless. It's a rather sizeable bunch. You could have gotten your point across without that much detail, however accurate.

edit: 10$ says they just limited downloads to map files, models, and sounds.
