why did valve have to take over?...CS was fine on its own until this shite came along and screwed it all up. Why do we have to use this??...i dont see the point, before you could dl CS from cs.net and then play..now u have weekly updates full of crap, which then crash the whole steam thing, preventing thousands of CS players form playing the game at all. and for what reason!??!?!...I have no idea

Oh, it seems I'm not the only person having trouble with running Direct3D mode now - on the Steam forums and on the GameFAQs forums there are a fair few post complaining about it. though there is still no way to get D3D to work it seems, Valve seems to be ignoring us.

How come I never have any problems with Steam? Maybe because I have a bit of common sense. Maybe because I am older than 12. Maybe because my computer is little more than a shit stack. COINCIDENCE OR NOT?



You little shits with your D3D errors: How would you like to have to wait half a year for an OLD style valve patch to fix it? You wouldn't like it all. But guess what? You wouldn't go around saying that WON sucked or that CS sucked, no, you would say, "Well that's CS/HL for ya" much like when everyone had problems alt-tabbing. Much like when people couldn't see nothing but black underwater. Much like when people had HL crash on them and need their computer to be rebooted for it to work again.

To the people who say the error "This server is using an older protocol (46) than your client." is not steams fault, I've just checked and it doesn't say "play anytime except every wednesday morning" anywhere on my cs packaging.



Likewise for "that server must have a lame admin", it doesn't say "play when your server admin gets back from lunch" either.



Can you revert to an earlier version? Can you even keep a complete separate older version? Its the fact you have no choice.

I tottaly agree. 1 person actually agrees w/ me! WOW! BTW I haven't had any problems w/ steam. Probably half of your little kids' problem is that your still running your dads' old 486. CS is the only game that I know of that has super low sys. req. these days. Stop running a 5 year old computer can blaming it on STEAM or VALVe. Get a life and a job, oh and btw A NEW COMPUTER TOO!

See, I don't have problems with Steam because my group has a fulltime CS administrator. He keeps us up-to-date with patches and such for BF1942 too! w00t.
