    Half-Life Winamp Control

Half-Life Winamp Control has been released, which is very similar to HLamp. Basically, it allows you to control Winamp within the game. Though it's currently in it's beta stages, it runs very stable. This new version works with Counter-Strike 1.6 and Steam. Their site is a bit informal, because the layout isn't completed yet.

Music in-game distracts me while playing.

Keep in mind that HLamp is not detected by the VAC at the moment. I'm not saying that as an advertisement, rather as a warning. Valve "fixed" the VAC so more people would not be banned, but I took it offline anyway, just so people would not be banned in the future. I can't imagine this program using any other method to do what HLamp did, so it too could be detected at some point. I talked via IRC with the author and basically told him the same thing. My view on the matter is this: use it at your own risk. I'm personally waiting for HL2 to come out before I start writing add-ons again, since HL2 is going to have a plugin SDK.

I like how everything is being incorporated in-game now, at least better than it used to be, and i like this concept of being able to control ur music in-game...i dont normally listen to music while playing tho...but now and again when im just messin around some background music is way cool....you hear less, but it adds a different aspect to the game...kinda like a soundtrack...for me at least...but at anyrate...its good to have

i don't understand people wanting to listen to music during cs, since a big part of cs is listening to where your opponents and team mates are (especially the opponenst since they do not show up on radar.

I listen to music when I'm dead and waiting for a new round to start - Use a shortcut plugin for winamp to pause/play. Won't ever be detected by VAC

Yeah, I don't listen to Music ingame, unless I am having a drunken friday night of CS where it doesn't matter....and also when I am dead.

Sounds cool. I wonder if there will be sensible concepts to avoid conflicts between plugins and anti-cheat components. Hmm.

This in NO way uses the same methods to control winamp, through CS (or any other mod). It's extremely unlikely it will ever be detected by vac.

Anyway to give this a in game window like Disk2 had.

Edit: And have it run without the executable open, reminds me of running Punkbuster in the background.

i see this as completly useless... whats the point, when you can throw on your headset and toss a cd in the stereo, you get better music quality, and ingame stuff isnt slowed down by trying to run mp3s.
