CS is great but.. I JUST HATE OHE THING ITS's the " Riot Shield" !!

Why are people blaming valve for the shield, have you even stopped and thought that the fact the shield was actually added, was because of everyone who complained about the awp.



So .. valve add in a item that helps protect against the awp, and now they get even more crap thrown back at them.



There is just no pleasing some people.

"Steam" is the Dumbest thing ever created for people that play CS after work. Reason being is the idiots from Valve decide, "Oh, Steam looks cool, lets use it to stop piracy." They just use the other reasons to cover it up. What they did is just make people mad because all work policies are to keep the ports needed to authenticate closed. Therefore, no more CS for anyone at work wanting to fire up a LAN Party ...... way to go Valve. All we want to do is play on a LAN. We've done it for years. Is that too much to ask for in a game.

Whelp, no 1.6 for us.

I think 1.6 is the best CS version yet. When the exploits on the shield are fixed, the shield is definitly the best addition to CS. The stratigies and tactics have changed so much with it. And you will notice that its not used the same way in match as compared to a public server.



I dont think bullets should penetrate the shield at all. I hope they dont make that change to it. All though I would like to see slower movement with the shield, and maybe when the shield gets hit, you slow down more then you do now. Just to balance out when a team of CT's have it.



But its very easy to kill someone with it. A team of 2 T's vs 1 shield easily done, and its easy on a 1on1. How ever the great thing about the shield is. It no balances out that 1 person cant take out a entire team very easily now. The shield implies power in numbers kinda. All though I have seen a 1 person with a shield take out 3 T's with a deagle. And no the exploit was not being used. So slower movement will fix this problem.



Also the shield is great in counter attacking Snipers. We all now we have gotten so pissed when a team of AWP whores sit and camp cmap camp. Well now the shield allows CT's to push forward against the snipers, and the whoel team dont need it. 1 or 2 is fine. just stay directly behind the shield, and a AWP can still hit the other team mates if they come out from behind the shield to get a enemy approaching to try and flank the shield carrier. So al little stratigy and thaught can easily take out shields and the team. Its not that hard.



All in all 1.6 definitly owns 1.5. The hit box fix is awesome. Just gonna take some re-adjustments in accuracy and such. The re-vamped maps and graphics make the experience more realistic. And the new guns rock. Famas I have found is deadly up close, and fairly decent long distance. Allthough the colt is still king of the long distance snip (excluding scout and awp)



The Galil is great mid range, and can pummle someone down upclose. I take it over the AK for its low recoil and power of the colt.



So yeah, VALVe did a great job on 1.6, few bugs here and there but every version has those...and with steam they can now fix them up without haveing to do a release.



Steam in general works great once you get it working properly. When VALVe gets more servers and bandwidth for all the users, it will be great. The friends is awesome.

I don't really care for Steam. I have a few old comptuers that some of my smaller cousins use to play (400mhz,256mb ram, geforce2) They can play CS1.5 decently, now...with steam its not even bearable! What about the people with crappier computers? You're just going to sit them out? That's not right!

how come ppl with connections slower than broadband cant get cs 1.6, its so fucked i've played cs since 1.1 and this takes the piss!! there should at least be a LAN/offline version for ppl with slower connections so they can get used to the new map + new weapons etc. Come on sort it out!!



P.S when cs 1.6 is out for everyone will it be split into normal + steam??

JUST LET THEM BOTH STAY, THE AWP AND THE SHIELD, QUIT BITCHING ALREADY, i bet everyone already said what you said, i like this i don't like that, LIKE I FRICKING SAID, servers will be up to disable the shield, THAT WAY WE CAN ALL BE HAPPY

like what "OPIE" said, except the part where when you get hit , you slow down, the shield is perfect the way it is, only thing they should change about it is the god mode front body glitch

and they should upgrade the player and world models, same since the old beta's, the m4 still has a scope on it.

VALVe is currently working on a Offline version of steam for LAN players.



I have a AMd athlon 600. And steam runs fine with me. No waiting no lag ect... Its perfect. I also run win 98, which has in turn proven to be more stable then win 2000 ME or XP home...Pro beats it. So that could be a cause too to problems.



I feel sorry for people with slower computers. But it is true, the gaming world is evolving, and if you dont have the right tools for it, you are gonna be left behind, sit the bench so to speak. Untill you get the right equipment to play in the game. Mother Board upgrades are not that expensive at all. Go get a Pent 4 1000 or a AMDathlon XP 1000 for $150+



Just double check and make sure your case and computer parts are compatable with it. The case not that big of a deal, if the screw holes dont line up...use tie wire. Safe and holds it in place.

Guys... even Chess has bugs. I was playing against a friend of mine, and he had only one move left, which was to move his pawn up behind his king, so he did that... and it called the game a stalemate. ON MY MOVE! All I had to do was bring a rook down and I had him in checkmate.... but NOOOOO... Valve can't even program a bug free chess game!

The riot shield is just a dumb concept... it just leads to staredowns, plus it is one of the few changes that actually makes pub play WORSE. The +3 frags thing should just be a server variable so we can turn it off in matches. I know it doesn't affect the gameplay at all, but its just weird to see the fact that I'm 5-0 after round one when 3 of my teammates got kills too.

Other than that, Steam WILL be a good program, but it is just buggy as hell right now. The new guns are good, even though the Galil is just a wee bit too powerful... the terrorists barely have to save at all anymore. Did anyone else see an improvement in the famas' power from the beta to the final?

Finally, it is just damn weird to shoot someone in the face with a glock and have them DIE in 1 bullet.

People without broadband connections CAN get and play 1.6... it's called making friends with someone who has broadband and a CD burner.

i really hate Steam for what they have done, i like the Friends bit, but thats it, and like the first comment said if somets not broken why fix it, i dont mind the other 2 guns, i dont think we need them, but i dont mind them, as for the shield i think its the worst thing ive ever seen added to a game. Plz someone go and blow up Steam enterprise and bring back Valve. If it carrys on like this i feel like speaking to league admins and tellin em to boycott playing 1.6.
