A reliable Steam with CS 1.5 would be perfect!

Nothing inherently wrong with the mailbag, although I do prefer Rizzuh's ones as he just takes the piss out of evryone with his witty responses.

Steam totally sucks. I know so many people that now can't be bothered to get cs1.6 because of the hassle they have got from steam. If it all worked well, without any bugs, then it would get the thumbs up from me. Untill then, it sucks.



As for the riot shield - there should be some weakness fo the person with it. Maybe Valve could make it break after a few clips and give it an energy bar or something. Or maybe they should make it cost around $7000. Or let the player behind the shield take 1 hp damage for every time the shield is hit.



My favourite anti-shield tactic is forcing them to back into a wall and kniving them straight through the shield.

I think you did a great job, MikeJ! Rizzuh can be pretty funny but it's good to have some serious discussion about the new update. Just being made fun of all the time can get old....hehe.



Anyways...CS 1.6 is definitely awesome and has lots of good additions and changes. Friends list, Already populated Server list, auto-complete console commands, not losing your sound if you Alt+Tab out of game, new weapons, the Glock is more powerful, better graphics....shit how can this be wrong? All you Dial-Up/ ISDN cry babies just need to leave your PC on overnight while Steam downloads. After that you can SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. It's getting cold in here.

There's several ways to kill a shielder.



1. Shoot him when he reloads. Note that there is currently a glitch where if you close the shield during the 'automatic' reload period, you still have full protection when reloading. Once this glitch is out, a shielder will have very little protection when reloading, and you can pop 'em for a headshot.



2. Pop 'em in the head with your superior aim, and superior weapon. Does not work when they're glitching, of course.



3. 'Nade 'em. Flashbang for effective blindness, then flank, or HE grenade can kill, with two of them, or if they've been weakened earlier.



4. Teamwork. When you shoot the shield with an ak or m4 or even an awp, they can barely move (which includes turning). One team member shoots them and slows them, the other flanks. Easy kill. You can even do this by yourself if you're close enough with a full enough clip.



5. Jump and shoot their head. This used to work in beta, but apparently it doesn't anymore. You can jump on top of a crouching shielder and shoot his head all day, and he doesn't even have to look up at you, just keep his shield closed. A glitch to be fixed later.



6. Knife them. You'll have to have some skill as most shielders are ready to open a shield and pop you in the head. Perhaps a fake-out with a knife, then switch to your gun? Also, the secondary attack penetrates the shield, the first does not.



7. Outplay them. If you can simply get them to look the other way, you can easily shoot their back. Hide around a corner you know they won't check, or blast through their other teammates and flank them.



8. Autoshotty. You've got 7 shots to slow and flank, and if one, maybe two, land, they're dead. Just keep circling them (in both directions, back and forth) and just try to flank the shield.



Shields are extremely easy to kill in 1on1 scenarios, or if you outnumber the shielder. However, once you start to have multiple teammates with the shield, in the same place (but not close enough to nade together), then it starts to suck. And of course there's the glitchers as well.



My suggestion to balance the shield (besides removing glitches) would be to enable the ownership of more than one HE grenade at a time. Perhaps 3-5, max? Also, this could be enabled as T-only, to counter the shield being CT-only.
