New Steam Installers Tommorow!

Hey guys, more Steam news again. Well, this one's pretty important to all you people still having trouble downloading through Steam. The Steam News Section has been updated. Greg Coomer, of VALVe, has posted that new installers will be released tomorrow. The installer will contain the cache files for all the games available via Steam, which include Day of Defeat, Team Fortress, Death Match Classic, and more. Greg also reports that they've been having some bandwidth and server issues during the release. Here's a quote from the news:

Tomorrow we will release new installers which include the cache files for all of the games available via Steam (Day of Defeat, Team Fortress Classic, the dedicated server, etc). If you haven't already done so, please use the installer that includes Counter-Strike and Half-Life.

So instead of a fixed up Steam to insure software stability and less buggy they are just going to use the same installer only with cache? Hrmm....

yay just what i wanted. hey if any 1 knows, then will i keep my same wonid (i mean steamid, ...) if i get the new installer but log on to my old account?

i guess i don't need this installer, since i don't have day of defeat, team fortress and all the other mods, but counter-strike.

how about another installer that would take care of all the errors and bugs?, it's really irratating, please include wad files needed for maps like as_tundra (as_tundra.wad), fy_iceworld (de_vegas.wad), and any other wads needed, and i wanna know when your in CS with the INSTANT MESSENGER, you able to tell where people are to other players in the game, that'll be really messed up..

So this is just steaminstall.exe and steaminstall_cs.exe in one?



I imagine this is going to be a large file, and i don't want to spend hours download something that is only going to add DMC. :|

mmmm steam is good...cant wait till the entire user base is converted to steam..then finally we can game on for real and some of my fav. servers will be up and runnin 1.6 YAY for steam

OK. I'm so pissed off at how they've taken a wicked fast action online game and turned it into the biggest piece of shit ever. I've been playing since beta 6 and I've seen CS hit different lows with various updates. But this is like a whole new game, a PIECE OF SHIT game. CS 1.6 IS THE WORST TRANSITION OF A GAME I'VE EVER SEEN. Who made these decisions??? They should be fired and thrown on the street. Well so much for CS. I think this is the end of it. Oh and BTW, STEAM SUX!!!. N e way, CS 1.6 will fail horribly and in the end kill CS. GG for fucking everything over. Next time get some REAL game developers to redevelop an already amazing game. And to that all I can say is.....FUCK YOU VALVE! YOU RUINED CS!!!
