go to the "Steam" folder, open "SteamApps" folder, then you will prolly see a folder with your email address as its name. open it and u'll see "counter-strike" folder. open it and u'll see "cstrike" folder and open it and extract the .mdl file into the "models" folder. and ur done.

Just take it in stride people, and forget about asking about the errors you are receiving right now when you try to run Steam. The server overload is probably the reason behind 99% of the errors and things will get smoother when things settle down a bit.



To all who are signing petitions and making death threats... come on now, grow up. You're going to be alright and you can live without Counter-Strike for a couple of days.



On a final note... I can't stress it enough... BittTorrent is your friend. Learn it. Use it. Love it.



Here's a link to the BitTorrent downloads. Use them and close Steam while you download, it will download much faster then through Steam.

i dk if my error is server related, because it happens after steam has finished w/ the "preparing to play cs" dialog box. I see the splash screen and it looks fine for a split second and then it just freezes w/ and error msg just just says error.

If some1 would tell me how 2 post a sn here i can show it.

Then i open steam today, and try to log in and it gives me the same error i had problems with yesterdat "Cannot connect to steam network..." Hey guys we just beat the amount of comments when steam beta was delayed.

Ok... So what did i do to get Steam playing?

I downloaded Steam Client 1.0, the 500kb one... on 9/11, couldnt find any servers to download from... cos 500kb one was all so busy... I downloaded that finally, and then ran it... only to see it read "Could not connect to any...blah blah" So i was pretty pissed off then... then i heard news that Steam with Cache is coming out... Yippee! that came out like a day or two later... and when i tried downloading it... all the servers were packed... and there was no way i could get the file... ok... so i tried fileplanet and its gay "wait-in-line-if-not-get-premium-account-with
-no-limit-download-f*ckoff-fileplanet-thanks-alot. Ok... so i waited for like 4 hours in queue... only to find out, the window resetted at like 4 hours after it started waiting... furious, i just decided to use bittorrent... pretty good... i got the file... and installed it... hanged and hanged... ok.. maybe its normal... then hanged again... ok... maybe not... hmm... then i switched off pc... went to bed.. said "f*ck off" and got up in the morning... then tried it again... and it worked! miraculously... hmm... guys... just keep trying i guess... hee! =D
