But if it absolutely needs to be nerfed more than it already is (from $1000 to $2200!), here are some ideas that have been proposed:
1) give the Ts a molotov cocktail (offense against defense)
2) make the shield break after it receives a lot of damage (must be more than one AK magazine and more than two awp hits)
3) make the user receive a small fraction of damage inflicted through shield with rifles, to a small maximum amount
4) bigger movement penalty with shield deployed
I like (1), others would be bothersome.
But in other news, Steam is no workie. Again. It gives me errors about "child processes", "attempting to access an illegal virtual memory area"... that is, when it manages to even logon. CS is grayed out in the Games menu and when I try to launch it, it says it needs to DL 350 MBs of stuff!!!! That can't be right. O_O
I do agree with the general point about Valve being EXTREMELY uninformative about this whole thing. Tell us what's going on!Comment

Fucking Steam! I spent all day yesterday getting the required files to play CS and DoD, and then I defraged my system to help with my performance...I woke up this morning, and my fucking gcache files are GONE.
I did a search for them, and the computer doesn't have them. What the hell is this shit?Comment

Steam keeps giving me errors that it's unavailable or my internet connection is down, when in fact it's not. And when I did get in, it's telling me I don't have Counter-Strike or Half-Life installed when apparantly I do because I played it over the past 2 days. I just installed the steam cache again and it gives me the same BS. WTF is going on here?Comment

Now the bullshit Steam won't go past the logging in, yet the computer says its still responsive. Then I close out the window and Steam is taken completely off the running processes. Eric Johnson, VALVe, and Steam should DIE.Comment

Please oh give me patience with this program.
I have been a half-life player since it first came out in late 98 and this is the first time ive wanted to throw my computer into the wall because of the update process. I've given it time for things to settle down but I have tried a clean install of half-life on a clean box and even that has issues, hell I cant even log in with the account I just created... Surely they cant be serious...
And this was not to reassuring on thier steampowered website either

Before you people start posting here in a fit of rage and confusion, there is one simple thing you can check in Steam to see if the games will work..
All you do is open the Games menu, Right Click on the desired game and choose Properties. It will bring up a Status window. Make sure the Automatic Updates is set at "Always keep this game up to date". Then, click on "Calculate cache status...", and wait for it to load, which can take anywhere from 5 sec. to 30 sec. If "Amount of application acquired" is not at 99% or 100%, then the game WILL NOT work because all the files aren't there. CS is working fine for me ever since I hit 99%.
Hopefully this will cut down on the ever-present "Hey, WTF? I downloaded the Steam installer, and nothing is happening! CS won't work! Oh FUCK, we're all gonna die!" posts.Comment
