Updates are going to be nowhere as big as this release, an update might be 50Mb at the most so people will finish downloading it much faster and it will create less strain on the server.

i think ur gonna have to restart cuz i left my comp doing that for bout 3 huors and nothing happened at that point. i restarted tha whole process (just created a new account) and it went by real quick

just great my steam update timer goes up instead of down. does any1 else see something wrong wit dat

I left my computer on the conversion from 7:40am untill 2:30pm and it still hadn't finished! The conversion process must be very buggy for it to screw up on so many systems. Oh well, only 7 minutes left untill the full steam download starts on fileplanet and that download should finish in under 20 minutes then i can be playing! :)

Also, is anyone else's Steam running slowly and freezing while updating (my computer doesn't suck)? How long will this take?

I see nothing wrong, it is because your download speed is going up and down as the strain on the server changes... duh

Try control-alt-delete, when my steam was updating it was doing at 2 million I/O reads and 4.2 million I/O writes, thats a lot of work for your harddrive and if it is a slow harddrive it could slow your system down.

when i said it goes up i dont mean it spiked and went back down i mean it went from 90 minutes to 150minutes to 320 mintues. and i aint even running no other program. (gotta love that slur)
