Eric Smith just e-mailed saying the Linux and Windows versions of the new HLDS are up and ready to be downloaded. The installations also include the new HLDSUpdateTool that they released last week, so get crackin on it!

For the Linux admins the link can be found here and for the Win32 admins the link can be found here. We'll update other mirrors as soon as they become available.[break="eric's e-mail"]
You can now download the full Half-Life Dedicated Server v1.1.2.0 packages (Windows and Linux) using these links:

Give it up. WON is done for. Move on with your CS career. There is a very small chance that it will just switch back to WON. Steam offers too much to pass up.

          :)

not at the moment, steam is a p.o.s. currently. it has potential, if valve listened to the majority of the community that is. they must have some monkeys working on the steam programming in a back room. who's genius idea was it to have the GUI visibility and responsiveness be tied to responses from the steam servers? Why not just write the program like 99.99% of the Windows programs already in existence that simply use status notifications weather its a status bar, message box, log window, etc. so you don't run into this problem?

Please write the code for that.

Oh, and while you're at it, code a new OS and a new, better distribution system. Ready... set.. go!

k now I'm confused, we use this to install over our current steam/hlds? doesn't -autoupdate take care of this?

doesn't this file defeat the purpose of steam?!

Does anyone know if you can make LAN only serves yet? I'm gonna be setting up a CS server on my college LAN when I get there in a few days and the server has to be LAN only because we are only allowed 1000 MB a day of uploading and downloading and I'm sure that a 24/7 CS SErver uses more than that, so it has to be LAN only. Anyone know if I can do this yet?

I'm confused?? What's the point in releasing a new HLDS for something that goes offline soon anyway??
